I just received some horrible news, I dial mikes number and he pick up immediately. He answers but I can’t speak am just crying. “Please come” I finally manage to say. I can hear he’s walking very fast before he hangs up I think he’s heading here.

MIKE

“Please come” she just said and I think she can’t talk any more. I stand up like a mad person heading out, I almost knocked my food down.

Cess:” where are you going? Whats wrong?”

“I'll be back, as I close the door behind me”. When I get to their house shes standing at the door crying. I just stretch my hands and give her a tight hug then she leads the way in to the house. Oh s**t, her mum is at home. The second person I land my eyes to is a strange man seated across her mum, Joan is seated at the furthest corner and shes sad. I don’t know whats happening am confused.

The man:” I’m going to leave now, see you soon” then he exits with some envelops in his hand.

I’m still standing confused trying to figure out whats happening.” please sit” Brenda’s mum says. “thanks” I replied sitting next to Brenda who is still crying.

Brenda:” Why mum? Does he hate us that much, he can’t even bring himself, he had to send a lawyer. He can’t even come then to say goodbye. I HATE HIM”

I hold her hand and her mum just tells her to cool down.

Brenda’s mum:” sorry mike for bothering you, can you stay with my kids for tonight am going out”

“mum where are you going?” Brenda asks before I could answer” am going back to Diana’s place, please allow me” her mum replied

From what I can see things here are not good I can see Brenda’s mum trying to hold herself together but shes struggling.

Me:” Its ok mum, I will. You don’t have to worry” she heads to her room and comes back with her parse. I think she was also crying in her room she hugs Brenda and Joan then she asks me to escort her to the parking lot. At the parking lot I ask her whats happening but she gestures for me to get in the car.

We get inside the car and I narrate all that had happened. My husband had sent the lawyer so that i could sign the divorce papers. By the time am done tears are rolling down my cheeks. Mike gives me a hug and for sure I needed it. I feel comfortable on his chest. “Just be strong for your kids” he said then we break the hug. I wish he could just hold me until I fall asleep, But I don’t know him that much so I stop whatever am thinking and also, I know he has a thing for my daughter. He then leaves the car and I drive out

MIKE

I head back to the house and find Brenda still crying I hug her and also call in Joan for the hug. I think Joan is strong or maybe shes just young to feel what is happening but I know she can understand, she is the only one who is not crying though shes sad.

“Babe let me go tell Cess that I’m going to spend the night with you guys, I’ll be back soon” She just replies with ok and lies on the coach, I think shes drained. Am just happy she had already eaten before they had the bad news.

At my sisters place I find her watching tv, shes done with her Saper and had covered mine.

Cess:” Where are you coming from I was worried”

Me: “Am from Brenda’s Ma place, shes the one who called.”

Cess:” What happened what’s wrong”

I told her all that had happened including that ill be spending the night there.

Cess:” Do you need some CDs?” she said with freaky look.

Me:” seriously Cess that is what comes at your mind after all I have said. Brenda is having a hard time I’ll be just there to offer a shoulder to lean on"

Cess:"which type do you liiike?" she continues with her freaky Ness.

Me:"Bye see you tomorrow"

Cess :" what about your sapar? you didn't eat"

" Don't worry about me I'll find something" i reply as i head out......
