Fuck, I’m gonna be late!
After I’d finally gotten the ferrets back into their kennel cage in my room, I went rushing back down to the convention area as fast as I could. When I skidded to a stop at one of the open doorways to the green room, the lights were still on, but all the chairs were completely empty.
Shit!
Steve must’ve given up on me since it had taken so much longer than I’d thought to get the ferrets put to bed. I went racing down the hallways toward the ballroom, trying not to stomp too loud in these big, stupid clodhopper boots.
All the hallways were still empty, but I could hear loud music coming from inside the ballroom. I skipped the first few doors since I knew it would flood the whole audience area with light from the hallway if I opened one of those. I
