Chapter 9Adam After I’d opened the door, a room service waiter pushed a small, metal cart into the room. While he was positioning it near the foot of the bed, I came back around the corner to get my wallet from the bedside table. But I stopped dead in my tracks and burst into laughter when I saw the big, lumpy mound under the covers on the side of the bed where Steve had just been sitting. “Did I spill something on me again?” the waiter asked self-consciously, brushing at the front of his perfectly clean, black, and white uniform. “Nah, you’re fine,” I said, handing him some bills for the tip.
