Taste of Betrayal..

I grew angry and then the feeling of hatred I had for her increased...

"I really don't want anything to do with you because am in love with her" I shouted so loudly

Debbie upon hearing my words moved backwards in shock

" You can't be serious Jasper, she's my best friend!!" She said angrily

"Your best friend you say? So why those negative talks about her?" I asked moving close to her. I felt like strangling her at that moment.

She didn't give an answer so I said instead

"You broke up with me right? I really appreciate that Debbie and I want you to know that am no longer interested in you; Like I said earlier I love Emily" with these words I slammed the door in her face.

(Debbie's POV)

After I was done with all my dates for the day , I made up my mind to visit Jasper to sweet talk him into accepting me back. He was a nice guy and I was sure he would never want to break up with me.

I got to his lodge and knocked but nobody answered which was weird because Jasper mostly spent his evenings at home.

After about 3 minutes the door opened but he blocked the way from allowing me get in.

"What are you doing here?" He asked immediately the door was opened.

" What's the meaning of all this? Why won't you let me get in?" I asked sternly

" I want you to leave now!" He shouted trying to bring his voice down.

I immediately suspected someone was inside

" Who is inside your house Japer?"

As if answering my question Emily came out.

I was more shocked than surprised..

"What!!!!

We both shouted in unison

I found my tongue and immediately said

"Emily what are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here?"' Emily asked me

The situation became really complex, I really couldn't understand what was going on. I had to clarify Emily

" His the boyfriend I told you about" I replied

"No, No,No"!! Screamed Emily covering her ears with her palms.

She ran inside and her actions shocked me which means that she was into my Jasper

"Impossible!!!"

She came outside with her bag and was about leaving when Jasper held her hands to stop her and his actions really confirmed my suspicion

" They had something going on between them"

He tried to follow her and I stopped him immediately

" What is my best friend doing in your house?" I asked loudly looking straight into Jasper's eyes

He was shocked and didn't say anything and then I became visibly scared not because of anything but I got the feeling that I had just lost Jasper. I just needed to be sure so I asked

"Don't tell me you like her?"

He didn't give an answer and it made me more scared

" She's not the type of girl you would want to mingle with" I continued trying to talk him out of having feelings for Emily

" Why is that?" He finally asked curiously

"She's not like the regular girls you know, just a middle class girl with no future" i bursted out with disgust and anger.

I really didn't like Emily because she was a middle class girl and loved simplicity but I had to make her my friend because she was very intelligent though she wasn't a bad person. Emily was a nice girl with outstanding character but I felt she could be a competition to me in terms of character building. I didn't introduce her to any of my boyfriends because I felt she would snatch them even though I knew she would never want to hurt me purposely, Emily was caring and the best friend I could have but I was really jealous of her.

It looked like what I said made Jasper very angry,

I had never seen him so angry before and he roared out

"I really don't want anything to do with you because am in love with her"

I moved backwards in disbelief as I heard his words, I felt the ground should open up and swallow me.

" My suspicious turned out to be reality"

" You can't be serious Jasper, she's my best friend!!" I blotted out angrily

"Your best friend you say? So why those negative talks about her?" He asked as he moved closer to me. I was scared because I thought he was going to strangle me and that was why I didn't give an answer.

At that moment I felt great hatred for Emily.

" She snatched you that's why" that would have been my response but I was so scared. The anger in his face prevented me from saying so..

"You broke up with me right? I really appreciate that Debbie and I want you to know that am no longer interested in you; Like I said earlier I love Emily" with these words he slammed the door in my face which was the most terrible embarrassment ever.

" No guy had ever done it, instead I should have been the one who will slam the door at his face when he comes to apologise that he wants me back" I thought angrily in my heart..

I walked away in shame..

(Emily's POV)

After Jasper ensured that I was a little calm he went to open the door.

I felt scared and didn't know what to do, I knew Jasper was no longer interested in her but I didn't want it to look like I snatched her boyfriend..

" I wasn't such a bad person"

The voices I heard outside drew me into reality, I rushed outside to see what was going on..

"Gosh!!! the sight was frightful"

I couldn't believe it was Debbie I was seeing.

What!!!!

We both shouted in unison

I became confused and totally shocked

Debbie spoke first

"Emily what are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here?"' I asked confused

" His the boyfriend I told you about"Debbie replied. Upon hearing those words my heart broke into pieces.. I felt I had betrayed my Best friend

"No, No,No"!! I screamed covering my ears..

I rushed inside to get my bag and came out almost immediately..

Jasper held my hands but i pulled off immediately.. At that time I felt I had betrayed my friend by being with her boyfriend even though I knew it was not delibrate.

I cried home without minding the stares I got even the cab driver asked if my boyfriend broke up with me.

I didn't reply him or talk to anyone either .

I got home and was glad my mum was not at home, she won't take it lightly if she saw me with swollen and red eyes.

I got to my room and immediately my phone rang, it was Jasper calling. I sighed as I saw the caller and quickly declined the call.

Though I felt bad ignoring him but I was also sad that I was with my best friend's boyfriend.

A text popped up and then I opened it

" Emily, please we need to talk"

I was about to delete it when another one came up

" I never knew Debbie was your best friend, please give me 15 minutes of your time; I really love you"

His last words softened my heart a bit and I decided to give him a chance, at least I should hear his own side of the story.

His call came and I answered immediately

"Are you okay Emily" he asked

"No!! I feel like I betrayed my friend" I cried out

"Calm down Emily, where are you?" He asked

" Am at home" I replied

"What's the address" he questioned

I was surprised but I gave him the address

" Am coming" was what I heard and the call went off immediately.

"Was he planning on seeing me?"

I didn't know why but I felt happy at the thought of Jasper coming to see me. Mum wasn't a problem she wasn't going to come home till about 8pm and I wasn't also planning of making him stay at my home.

" It will be so improper" I thought

I forgot about my sadness and went to prepare myself.
