When Tomorrow Felt Possible.

293 Words
The next day felt different, though the sky looked the same. Somehow, ordinary things—like the way sunlight pooled on the pavement, or the faint smell of coffee from the café across the street—seemed charged with quiet significance. I found myself thinking about you more than I thought I should. About the way you smiled without trying, the way your laughter seemed to fill spaces I didn’t know were empty. I tried to act normal, but normal suddenly felt heavy. Every step I took felt guided by something invisible, something that pulled me toward the thought of you. I didn’t understand it, and maybe that’s what made it so thrilling. Then I saw you again. Not by chance, it seemed, though I told myself it was. You waved, just the smallest flick of your hand, and my heart did something I didn’t have words for. We talked again, this time about slightly bigger things—dreams that felt both scary and fragile, things we wanted but weren’t sure how to reach. And still, there was no pressure, no expectation. Only a quiet understanding, like we had both been waiting for the same invisible signal. When I finally walked away that afternoon, I didn’t feel the old weight of fear pressing on my chest. Tomorrow still stretched ahead, uncertain and strange, but now it felt…possible. Somehow, you had planted a seed in my world, a small light I hadn’t expected, and I couldn’t stop thinking that maybe some things find you not when you’re ready, but when you need them most. And so I kept walking, my steps lighter, my heart fuller, and the thought of you lingering, like the first note of a song I wanted to learn by heart.
