Six: The Grand Master of the Hall

Hu Fenglou must be crazy, thinking he's in a public bathhouse with a bunch of old men scrubbing each other's backs? "Get out!" I quickly covered what needed to be covered and turned to shout at Hu Fenglou. At that moment, Hu Fenglou, with seductive eyes and a face thicker than a city wall, said to me, "I'm already in here, and my clothes are all wet. Why go out? Besides, I didn't expect you to have such a miserable life all these years, with no father's love or mother's care. Today, your Grandpa Hu is going to be generous and pity you, let you have a good time, and let you know what it's like to ascend to heaven." Ascend to what heaven? How shameless can he be? Since this animal has no shame, I should at least have some. If he won't leave, I will. I broke free from Hu Fenglou's arms, intending to leave the bathroom, but Hu Fenglou followed from behind, pressed down on my shoulder, and leaned against the door. Just like what Hu Fenglou said, my ancestors must have accumulated no virtue at all. Otherwise, how could I encounter such a shameless and despicable beast? After he was satisfied, Hu Fenglou leaned against the door in a ruffian manner and said, "This is the compensation from your Grandpa Hu for all the suffering you've endured over the years. How does it feel? Wonderful, isn't it?" Such vulgar words coming from Hu Fenglou's mouth, in broad daylight, made me feel both embarrassed and angry, but I had to swallow my anger and remain silent. "Hmph, you're still angry," Hu Fenglou suddenly taunted me, "You're really not a good thing, getting a bargain and still not being grateful. Alright, I won't make it difficult for you. In a couple of days, I won't touch you, and we'll see how anxious you get." Forget it, I've endured for twenty-one years, how could I not endure these few days? Even if I do get anxious, I can just find any man outside, which would still be better than this animal, Hu Fenglou. After saying all this, Hu Fenglou then told me he was going to handle some documents for our hall opening and instructed me to prepare what he had told me to prepare. Once everything was ready, we could start taking on tasks. Although Hu Fenglou is usually shameless, he was very serious when it came to the hall. Of course, I wouldn't foolishly oppose him, especially since it wasn't my money being spent. After Hu Fenglou left, I found a private gold shop and sold all of Hu Fenglou's gold chains and lockets. I thought they would be worth seventy or eighty thousand since they were thick and heavy, but the shop owner only offered thirty thousand at most. Although I was reluctant to sell them for so little, thirty thousand was still thirty thousand. It wasn't my stuff, so I didn't care how it was squandered. I then rented a house in our city with the thirty thousand, leaving ten thousand for living expenses and other purchases. When Hu Fenglou returned the next afternoon, I was carrying a pig's head and a sheep's head home, and he appeared out of nowhere. He had changed his clothes and was dressed impeccably. His already small face looked even more refined after being groomed. Seeing his smug appearance, I thought to myself that he was a flower on the outside but a straw bag on the inside. As if showing off his attire, Hu Fenglou strutted around in front of me for a while. Seeing me carrying so much stuff and exhausted, he didn't offer to help but instead asked directly, "Have you taken care of everything I told you to?" "It's all taken care of," I replied unenthusiastically. "And the house?" "Rented." I took Hu Fenglou back to the rented house, a three-bedroom apartment that was quite spacious and well-located. Hu Fenglou seemed satisfied with the house after looking around and then asked, "How long did you rent it for?" "One year." In a small city, the rent isn't as high as in big cities, but for someone like me who is still in school and not welcome at my relatives' house, it's impressive that I could afford to rent such a place in one day. Hu Fenglou was surprised and asked, "Where did you get so much money?" "I stole it." After saying this, I saw Hu Fenglou's suspicious gaze fixed on me. I was afraid he would suspect me, and my heart was racing. So I quickly explained, "This money is what I've saved up over the years by being frugal. Grandpa Hu, please look after me in the future, considering how devoted I've been to you." Although the suspicion in Hu Fenglou's eyes didn't dissipate, he responded after hearing my words, "Since you're so obedient, I won't pursue this matter today. Tomorrow, all kinds of celestial beings will come, and I'll explain to you what we need to do and what to pay attention to. If anything goes wrong tomorrow, you won't survive." Seeing Hu Fenglou change the subject, I heaved a sigh of relief and listened carefully to his instructions. The opening of our hall is like starting a company that deals with ghosts and gods. To put it grandly, it's about exorcising demons and communicating with ghosts to benefit the people. And just like a company, a hall needs people from various departments. The celestial beings are mainly divided into the Five Sects and miscellaneous immortals. The Five Sects are the common Fox, Yellow, White, Willow, and Grey Sects. Miscellaneous immortals include all other immortal animals besides these five, such as the Pig Immortal we encountered at Old Lady Hu's house, as well as Turtle Immortals, Deer Immortals, and so on. In our hall, the Five Sects must be present, and the hall must have a Grand Master, who manages the entire hall and is the boss of all celestial beings in the hall. The celestial being who sits in this position must have the highest cultivation level. Besides the Grand Master, there must also be ten Division Masters, equivalent to department heads, each responsible for different tasks, such as healing, Feng Shui, and so on. Additionally, there are roles like finance, flag bearers, and so on. A good hall can have hundreds of celestial beings, and the bigger the hall, the more powerful the celestial beings, making their services more impressive. And we, as disciples, are responsible for communicating between the celestial beings and humans, serving as a medium, using the power of celestial beings to exorcise disasters and demons for people. Hu Fenglou didn't say much else, probably because he was afraid I wouldn't remember everything at once. But one thing he made clear was that he must be the Grand Master of the hall. Although I was unwilling, what could I do? I couldn't beat Hu Fenglou, so whatever he said went. And after he returned, we were going to open the hall the next day. During the opening, the items we purchased were used to worship the heavens and the celestial beings from all directions. If any celestial beings were willing to stay, Hu Fenglou would choose them and then arrange for them to serve in various positions in the hall. That night, Hu Fenglou and I prepared everything, set up the hall, and he first wrote his title as the Grand Master on red paper and posted it at the top of the hall. After everything was ready, we went to bed. Since Hu Fenglou and I had already become intimate, we slept in the same bed. Although I was reluctant, I had no choice. At night, Hu Fenglou's manly scent filled the blanket, and his intentionally scant clothing revealed a strong, smooth physique that kept me restless all night. The next morning, before dawn, I felt as if many people had crowded into the house. This oppressive feeling made me very uncomfortable in my sleep. Hu Fenglou woke up earlier than me and told me that the celestial beings had already arrived, and quite a few of them at that. He urged me to get up quickly. But even though so many celestial beings had come, I couldn't see a single one. I just felt a sense of oppression as if there were people even on my bed. Seeing that I hadn't reacted for a while, Hu Fenglou suddenly leaned into my body, and instantly, my eyes seemed to be polished, and my throat felt as if a bead was stuck, making me extremely uncomfortable. "I'm now in your body. The bead stuck in your throat is a pill I've cultivated. Your discomfort is a natural reaction." As he said this, Hu Fenglou controlled my eyes to open, and suddenly, oh my goodness, I saw that the house was packed with people of all ages, wearing various clothes, both men and women!
