The words seemed to burn themselves into Clara's mind.

For several long seconds, nobody spoke.
The archive room remained eerily silent except for the distant sound of rain striking the mansion windows.
Clara stared at the photograph again,her mother looked young,happy and completely different from the woman Clara remembered during her final years.
Beside her stood Edward Knight. And between them stood the mysterious man.
The man someone desperately wanted found. Or silenced. "What does this mean?" Clara finally asked.
Alexander's gaze remained fixed on the photograph. His expression had become unreadable again.
"I don't know." Clara immediately knew he was lying. Not completely. But enough.
"You recognize him." Alexander didn't answer. The silence stretched.
