“Hey... you ready?” I said against the phone. My eyes flinched and my nose scrunched, gripping at my phone. I was about to hear an earful from Elena.
“Where are you?” she screamed out, her tone irritated and scratchy. I had two voice messages and five missed calls when I called her back. What would I expect? Her mood was in mud all day and I oiled the fire.
“I'm sorry, but Grace got some emergency at the last moment, so I had to stay back. I am with her right now. I might get a bit late.” I explained, looking at my watch. It was almost eight p.m. now, and I was about to pick her up at seven. She hated delaying, and I almost expected her kind feedback.
“Then let’s cancel today. I'm hungry and I gave some chores to wrap up.” She blabbered, amusing me.
