“Did you hear that?” I asked Gannon, who was on his feet, to look for her. His face had a weird restlessness, he was worried, but it was beyond the usually worried face he makes. He was restless because she wasn’t in front of her, he was restless because she wouldn’t come out. He looked at me with eyes full of dark red. I knew at this moment how earnest and resolute he was when he said he likes her. His eyes can tell all his stories at one glance.
We ran to her bedroom where the voice came from but as we stood and knocked hard on the door; she didn’t answer, but yet again the same muffles sound was heard, but crisp. She was inside; we were sure.
“Something is wrong.” I cried in suspense and he too, feeling the same, kicked open the door.
