Chapter – 14 No matter how deeper in sorrows you will always find someone loving you. And that is the love of a lifetime. ** Present-day, I got up early today around seven, earlier than yesterday, fighting through the addictive temptation of one minute more in my head. The sun was up and the weather was clear as the water of the blue ocean and cheerful as birds on a tree and Emi when he has wonderful food made for him. So, to make the entire day just as sunny, I made some nutritious breakfast for myself. I blended with a handful of fresh fruits I bought yesterday, rolled oats, and chocolate protein powder, and chugged it down before I hit the gym. I fell in love with the feeling of the heaviness I feel in my legs after a good day of workout routine, huh who would have thought that? And now I am off my way to college in my chevy. I checked the schedule, and I have four classes today. The important classes will begin starting today. So, I packed all the stationary and my laptop to take to college in the leather bag I brought from London. And off we go…. It was just after when my first class ended and I checked my phone when I find Emmi’s missed call. I called him back about what he wanted to say, was something that urgent that he has to call me four times in a single hour. Huh, maybe it was pretty urgent. He picked up the call on the first ring. “Hey, where are you?” he up said on the phone. Desperate time, I guess. “yes, I'm fine and I have a class in five minutes, so I'm heading there.” “where?” “chemistry lab. Why? Don’t you have any classes?” “I bought something for you. When will you be free?” he seemed pretty hustled. “Maybe by two pm it will do me for the day. Wait, are you still not in college? What is that noise?” “I was experimenting with some dishes. And you’ve got to help me.” “What help?” I questioned back. “And what did you say you brought for me?” “Tell me one thing, which cheese goes the best with mac & cheese?” “didn’t you know…?” “What?” he paused as he waited for the reply. “That any cheese is good cheese.” “that’s what I thought.” “let’s hang out, I will bring lunch for us.” “Okay, fine, we’ll have lunch together. I'll call you soon as I am done here.” I said, about to hang up the call when he continued. “Okay, I'll introduce you to my best friend, Caspian. You couldn’t meet him last night in that chaos.” He spoke the f*******n words. God, can’t I just disappear? If not me, can this trouble just disappear? “no, actually now that I think about it I'm really not in the mood to hang out with your friends. I have to get some books from the library. And there is a lot of stuff I have to go through. Sorry, but I can’t.” “I'll get them for you if you hang out with me. I can even help you with your studies. I have some hidden treasure from my freshman year. It’ll be easier if someone gets them for you.” Okay, not to lie. It was tempting. He was a good note-taker. We studied together in high school several times, so I was pretty sure about it. But taking his help means trouble-trouble. “I really want to, but I'm buried under lots of stuff. I haven’t even settled in my apartment yet. Maybe next time.” “Caspian can help you with notes. He is great at studies and he has it all prepared from last year. I can borrow it for you. But only if you come for ten minutes at least. I want to taste what I'm making right now.” “prepared notes?” I got tempted again. Gosh, such a day filled with temptations is better to avoid. And no matter how delicious sounding that offer was, I really didn’t want to face Caspian, especially after he recognized me. It’s just too embarrassing for me. I never thought I would see him again. Why? Just why? Why out of every place in this world, why is he here? “Limited offer. Time is running out. Grab it first before some other girl snatches it.” He catches up again, metal banging in the background. Such an unemotional bastard. Suddenly a thought came to my mind. And changed all that I had in my head. ‘How long can I run away from not seeing him? We are in the same university and he is a family friend. There will always be a time when we will cross paths together, if not now, then in the future. I won't talk to him but I won’t make him the reason to stop living my life and not make any friends. “Just ten minutes?” “Promise.” “I'll call you later when I'm done. Now bye.” 1:00 pm, I was in the chemistry lab with other freshmen; I approached many of them, petting my thumping-out-of-nervousness heart when we got notified that there has been some shift in the schedule for today and the chemistry class is being canceled since the professor had some emergency and the lab assistant is running some errands, and instead, we have another class. So, wasting no time further, I quick feet to the hall and found a seat for myself where the view would be the best. Just the next minutes, the place went in pin-drop silence as the door flew open. “Hello students, I'm Sandra Adams, and I'll be taking your Material Science classes from today. If there is anything you want to ask, anything, please stand up at your respective seats.” She paused, waiting for a response. “If not then, we shall continue.” A graceful woman walked in as the students were settling down on their seats. Just her illuminating aura was enough to feel her powerful presence in the room. The way her heels clicked on the bare floor, the way she walked, the way she presented herself was dominating even from the eyes of young adults like us. She introduced herself. She was tall but less than I was. She was authoritative and yet calming. But was oozing grace like she had it grow in her backyard. She was a kind of person, scarce. She had light brown hair and bright, glowing skin. She looked like she looked after her, but a little too much for what we categorize as normal. She would be around my mum’s age but can still beat a decade younger girl. If I were to rate her, she will be nine at least. She continues, “so if you have no questions, who among the fresh faces here is going to stand on their seat and explain to me what material science is?” Students stood up and answered what they knew and she heard them with all her attentiveness, corrected them if they were wrong, and told us more about what we are going to learn this semester. The class was interesting. I didn’t realize when an hour passed. Sciences always fascinate me, with all its complexities and the storage of information, it’s just so captivating and hypnotizing.
