The two sloths were not, as Calnor"s words had suggested, sloths, but staff members enjoying their day off. Deirane joined them in the small room where the servants gathered for recreation. The Stoltzin was sitting on a couch, her legs tucked under her. When she saw Deirane, her eyes sparkled with joy.
“Hello," she exclaimed, "are you the new girl?”
She was pleased with his cheerful tone.
“My name is Deirane. What"s your name?”
“My name is Celtis. Where have you been assigned?”
“In the greenhouses.”
Until now, the man had remained sullen. Obviously, he didn’t like to be disturbed. He certainly had other plans with his companion. With the last words of Deirane, he cheered up.
“Great, that"s where I work too. I"m Volcor.”
“It"s great indeed. You’ll be able to show him everything.”
