The Unruly Luna

Chapter 5

Amir called Alec himself. He didn’t dare call Ruslan directly, considering Polina’s answer. Even so, it was frightening to relay her refusal. Wolves were aggressive creatures — volatile and prone to conflict.

"Not a good morning. She submitted her resignation, Alec. I’ll miss her. Polina is an excellent assistant. Is there really no other way?" — Amir asked cautiously."Yes, I agree. The morning started badly. I was counting on a different answer," — Alec admitted.

— "Make her come to my brother. Then everything will return to normal. You know our nature. He’ll destroy everything she holds dear, but he’ll still get her. Only it will hurt her terribly. Think about how you can pressure her."

"Polya doesn’t want to hear anything. She said she doesn’t want to see him, let alone anything more. She called the Alpha a bastard," — Amir replied honestly. — "She resigned without hesitation. "Then Luna would definitely run. We’d be hunting her across the world. In the meantime, Ruslan would raze the entire city," — Alec said before realizing he might’ve said too much. Perhaps Amir shouldn’t have known that. — "He’s already turned the whole office upside down. Snapping at everyone like a rabid animal. And you know you can’t put a muzzle on a leader. And that’s before he even knows about her refusal. Even telling him will be dangerous — even for me."

"Luna?" — Amir repeated in surprise. — "I didn’t realize it was that serious. Is the Alpha certain? I feel sorry for her."

"Yes. She’s his Luna. Keep that to yourself," — Alec warned, just in case. — "She’s unprotected and could become an easy target. We’re watching her, but caution is still necessary. Until that stubborn little girl receives official status and a mating mark on her neck, no one must know.""It’s her fate, Amir. "I know Polya. She won’t give in. If the Alpha made her an indecent offer, she took offense. That girl reacts very sharply to such things. No matter how sweet she looks, her backbone is steel," — Amir said quietly.
