Chapter 7 Jeremiah was surprised to find Fergie, Ethan’s grandfather, in the lobby of the hotel. He didn’t notice the nod from the person behind the front desk, but Fergie rose and approached him. Jeremiah stiffened a bit as the older man smiled what Jeremiah perceived as the supposed disarming, “Ah, shucks,” smile. “Hello, I’m Ethan’s grandfather, Fergie.” Jeremiah firmly shook Fergie’s hand and was pleased there wasn’t an arm wrestling struggle as was seemingly usual in such matters.
