Aira. I froze, my heart skipping several beats before racing in fear. My breath caught in my throat as I tried to process Helen's words. Biting down on my lip, I attempted to maintain a cool mask of composure, but my hands trembled slightly. "What do you mean?" I asked, attempting a small scoff, trying to sound nonchalant. "Why would you say such a thing?" Helen's gaze didn't waver. She wasn't convinced by my feeble attempt at denial. "You're the King's mate, aren't you?" she repeated, her voice calmer, more measured, and more dangerous. Her irises flickered as her nostrils flared, sniffing the air around me.
