I left Briarville early so we"d have plenty of time during our weekend to explore one other. We’d been out to a movie, eaten at restaurants and taken walks on the beach as good friends. Those shared pastimes meant I didn"t have to spend more time with her to know how compatible we were. How talking to her was easy because she’d had her own battles to fight here on domestic ground.
We understood each another. Granted, my skirmishes took place overseas far from American soil, but the result of each of our struggles had some of the same effects.
