{Amari's P.O.V}
I woke up in a white room with blinding lights. When I was finally able to clearly see my surroundings I took a look around and realized I was in an infirmary or hospital room. The infirmary rooms at Red Moon were nothing like this. I cleaned every inch of them so trust me I would know. There was a monitor steadily beeping beside me with cords from it attached to me. Taking a look at my body I could see that I was now wearing a hospital gown. While it was a bit revealing, it gave me enough coverage to be comfortable at the moment. I had a hard time remembering what happened. It wasn't until I sat up that I remembered the events that took place tonight. Flashbacks ran through my mind as I put together everything that had happened. I went to the lake by Red Moon. Brianna and her lackeyes showed up. I ran. I was in the Black Woods and met a vampire? Oh s**t I did! And I'm alive? When I made my way out of the Black Woods that's when I ran into Brianna again. As if on cue my body became sore remembering the beating. I lifted the cover off of me and moved the gown. I still had bruises on me, but not as many as I had expected. I should have gashes and broken bones right now, why do I only have just mere bruises? Even my old ones seem to have faded. They used to be so vivid, now you can barely see them against my milk chocolate skin. What was new? Oh! I got my wolf! "Islette!" I called out but she didn't reply. I felt stronger and I was healing faster than I ever have, so I knew she was still there. Was she ignoring me? I continued to look over my body.
"You're healing quite well I see," a voice said. I looked up and saw a young woman with mahogany skin and a huge fro carrying a tray. She was wearing white scrubs so I assumed she was a nurse. "How are you feeling love?" She asked.
"I'm feeling great…all things considered," I gave her a gentle smile and she gave me one in return. She walked over to the side of my bed and put the tray on a table within arms reach of me.
"I figured you were hungry so I brought you something from the kitchen." Hungry was an understatement, I was f*****g starving. On the tray there was a bowl of beef stew, a small garden salad, bread sticks, two slices of red velvet cake, a bottle of water, and a bottle of apple juice. My mouth started to water at the sight before me.
"Thank you so much I was starving," I exclaimed. The nurse smiled at me.
"No problem. I snuck you an extra slice of cake. Us she-wolves have to look out for each other right?" I nodded while bringing a spoonful of stew up to my lips. I could still see the steam coming from it, but it wasn't too hot. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the burst of flavors I had gotten.
"Is it to your liking?" The nurse asked, giggling.
"It's delicious," I replied with a mouthful of stew and bread. "Where am I?" I finally asked.
"You're at White Venus Pack in our infirmary," she answered kindly. White Venus? That wasn't too far from Red Moon. One of their pack members must have found me and brought me here. I wasn't being detained so I guess my identity wasn't known yet. She waited until I was done eating to ask me anything. The smile from the nurse's face faded.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to you?" She asked. When I looked at her face I could see a mixture of curiosity and sympathy in her eyes. What was I supposed to tell her? That my packs alpha's daughter and her friends jumped me and then I super blasted them?
"I got jumped," I decided to keep it simple. Plus, it's not like it was a lie. She eyed me suspiciously for a moment before returning back to regular face.
"Okay," she said with a soft smile. "Well, I'm going to get the doctor. I'm sure she'll want to check in with you as well," she gave me another soft smile before walking out the door. I know I should've been sad but all I could think of was that damn stew, I needed the recipe. After a few moments of lying in bed with my thoughts the door opened and the nurse returned, but she wasn't alone. This time she had an elderly woman with her. Her skin was bronze and her white hair was in locs. She walked over to a chair with wheels and sat in it.
"Hi, I'm Dr.Asha. I'm sure you've already met my assistant and daughter, Jasmine." Hearing this I looked back and forth between the two women. Now that I was looking at them side by side I could definitely see the resemblance.
"Hi Dr.Asha I'm Amari," I said. She wrote my name down on her clipboard so as to not forget it. When she was done her eyes clouded over for a minute, she was mindlinking someone. Who? When she was done she faced towards me.
"So, we ran some blood work and Amari you have a deficiency in well, everything," she exasperated. I could believe it, my diet was far from healthy. I took what I could get at Red Moon. "What is your diet like?" She asked. I couldn't think of anything to say. "What pack are you from?" She questioned. I didn't want to lie to her but I couldn't tell her I was from Red Moon. What if she contacted Alpha Baron and told him I was here. I'm positive that Brianna told him her version of what happened by now. And he wouldn't care about mine. And Diane? Her father is an alpha too. And Layla-wait. Layla. She's dead. I'm sure of it. My heart began to sink at the realization. I killed her. Oh Goddess I killed her! I couldn't go back to Red Moon. As if my situation couldn't get any worse there was a knock on the door. Jasmine walked over to it and opened it. My stomach was in knots and my mouth dropped when I saw who it was. Lance Donovan, future alpha of The Red Moon Pack.
