The White Venus Pack

{Lance P.O.V} I started to run in the direction of my best friend's pack, it wasn't too far from ours. I knew she was a victim of bullying but this?! Mason growled in anger. "Who do you think could have done this?" Mason growled. Honestly I had no idea. So many wolves in our pack are cruel, it could've been anyone. I tried picking up a scent off of her but I couldn't smell anything, that made me even more frustrated. It felt like I had been running for hours when I came upon golden gates, I had finally reached The White Venus Pack. It was called that because the land was surrounded by poisonous White Venuses, hence the name. Two guards were placed on each side of the gate, I had never seen either of them before so they must've been new. I could see them tense as I approached. "Stop where you are. Who goes there?" The one on the left commanded. I stopped and spoke calmly to show that I wasn't a threat. "I am Lance Donovan of The Red Moon Pack, Son of Alpha Baron Donovan. Our packs are at peace, I'm Kyle's friend," the two eyed me suspiciously. Even though it was dark I could see their faces just fine. "Who's that?" The one on the right asked. I had already come up with an excuse. "This is my friend Margot. While on a run I found her in the woods. She's in pretty rough shape, I just want to get her treated," I explained. "Why didn't you take her back to your pack?" The guard on the right asked. s**t, I hadn't thought of an answer to that. Before I could slip up and say anything stupid I heard an all too familiar voice. "I knew I smelled a rat." Kyle Calypso, the heir and future alpha of The White Venus pack, jokingly said to me. "Stand down, he's with me, and remember that for future reference," Kyle commanded. The guards nodded in agreement and opened the gates. "What do we have here?" Kyle asked, nodding at Amari. "It's a long story," he nodded understandingly and gestured for me to follow him. I pulled Amari in closer, inhaling her wonderful cinnamon roll scent, and followed Kyle. White Venus was a tad bit smaller than Red Moon, but they had some of the best doctors in North America, other than the Lycan King. The first stop we made was the infirmary. I put Amari's bruised body on the bed and let the nurses and doctor do their thing. "Take good care of her and let us know when she wakes up," Kyle commanded. They nodded in agreement and bowed as we left. "So you wanna tell me what the hell is going on?" Kyle questioned when we were finally in the privacy of his room. I scratched the back of my neck and thought of my next words very carefully. "Well-,' I struggled to say the words. I found myself speechless. Why was it so hard to talk about my mate? I swallowed as if I was about to say one of the most difficult things I've ever had to say. "Here's the thing. That girl that I brought here, her name is Amari," Kyle looked at me expectantly, obviously wanting me to continue. "She's my uh…mate," I tried to say it quietly but with our werewolf hearing, especially Alpha werewolf hearing, it was next to impossible to miss anything even if it was a whisper. Kyle's eyes widened. "Your mate?! Holy s**t!" He seemed more excited than I was. "Congratulations man, that's incredible," he congratulated, patting my shoulder, giving me a wide smile. When his smile faded I knew he was going to ask the same question that's been on my mind all night. "What the hell happened to her?" "That's exactly what I'm going to find out," I said with a newfound determination. I was suddenly feeling very protective of her, VERY. Mason wanted to find whoever did this and rip their heads off, the image of seeing his mate in that state made him want to rip to the surface and go on a rampage. "If you need anything you know I'm here for you man," I nodded and gave a small smile. I sat down in a chair that was next to the window. Judging from the position of the moon it was definitely past midnight, about 2 o'clock. My mom would freak if she knew I was gone with Amari getting her treated. I closed my eyes and put all that to the side, what was important now was that I'd be there for my mate. Me and Kyle started catching up. We talked about events that happened in our pack and Kyle told me about his new pick of the month. "Her name's Kylie. Isn't that cool? We can be the K's," I looked at him disapprovingly. "She's not your mate though, what's the point?" "So what, I'm supposed to just be lonely until I find my mate? Knowing my luck I probably don't have one." Kyle is 20, two years older than me. He's the heir to the White Venus Pack and he still hasn't found his mate. For alphas that is uncommon. With all the events we go to and host and she-wolves we meet we are bound to find our mate. Unfortunately for Kyle that isn't the case. "You'll find your mate Ky," I reassured. He gave me a small smile and turned away. "I hope so man I'd hate to have to take a chosen mat-," I looked at Kyle to see why he had stopped and noticed his eyes were clouded over. Someone must be mind linking him, hopefully about Amari. He snapped his head in my direction and gave me a slight nod. "Your mate is awake," I jumped up quicker than I realized, making Kyle chuckle. "Maybe it's good I haven't found my mate considering how it turned you into a lovesick puppy," he mocked. I didn't care. I reached the door faster than him even though I was further, swinging it open and heading to where I left my mate. I found myself thinking about a million things, asking myself a million questions. Is she okay? Does she remember who did this to her? What the hell happened out in those woods? She was on my mind more and more. Everything I felt towards her before was amplified, and her scent was stronger than ever. The bond with Amari felt different, stronger. Could this mean that…? No. Right? "I feel it too," Mason said. "I'm pretty sure our mate got her wolf." "I think so too." It made sense. Everything was stronger now. That would mean today is her birthday. She was born on Valentine's Day. Coming to that realization made my heart throb. I know my mate's birthday. After a few minutes of walking I found myself in front of my mate's door. Her scent is ever so strong. I knew that the moment I opened the door everything would change.
