~POV DEANNA~
"Why did it have to be him?" That's all I could think while I was showing them the way to the kings' chambers. "Why did it have to be this egotistical neanderthal that was the legendary Tri Race?" I remember all the lessons that I was taught on my home planet, Orion. Most people assumed Orion was just a star constellation, but just south of the belt was a planet, my home, ruled by the goddess, Oryon. She wasn't a major goddess. She was just gifted with godhood to be able to govern the cosmos.
There was 3 classes of orions. The 2 lesser classes were the Warriors, the Engineers and, the class that was considered the elite class, the one that governed the entirety of Orion, the Scholars. The Scholar class was the class I was born into. My mother and father were both members of the council. I was expected to excel as they had in their studies. I did just that. Even when I faltered, I never stopped trying to be the best.
It was of no surprise to me when the council appointed me the task of leading the human race into the technological world it was meant to be. But in order to achieve this, I needed to study from the other gods of this world. Yes that's right, gods. There are many. 12 in all, to be exact. I only had to learn from 6 of them. The Major 6. They are called such because they are the strongest and most powerful of the other gods. Seido, God of order and discipline. He built the laws and made sure they were respected and followed. Some are still enforced, even now. Isis, the goddess of creation and life, She is the birth of all living things. Nephthys, the goddess of destruction and death. She is the counterpart to and twin to Isis. Jukindo, the god of negativity. He is the god of emotions like hatred, sadness, and pain. His twin, Jukindu, is his opposite, goddess of positivity. She is the goddess of emotions such as love and happiness. Finally, the strongest above all else, yes, even above the literal gods of life and death, Chao, God of insanity and chaos. Originally, Chao was the god of creativity and individuality, but when the Supreme Being, Darkness, threatened the existence of his counterpart, Light herself, Chao could not stand by and watch his father destroy the balance of the universe. He was the only god strong enough to absorb Darkness and seal him within himself, corrupting his soul in the process.
Learning from him was extremely difficult. His mind is so broken he couldn't stay on the same subject for long. Chao is by far the most intelligent, but his words turn to nonsense after a short time. I remember him telling me he knew who the Tri Race of this timeline was. I had even asked him if he could show me who it was, but it was one of the many times that he had completely forgotten the entire conversation and moved on to why the color purple was so fascinating. Chao angered me more often than taught me, but the small things he did manage to teach me helped me a lot to better communicate with the human race. Something Chao valued above all else was humans. He loved their ability to create something from nothing, having only their minds and vision of a better world to guide them. Chao helped me see the best parts of the human mind. For the life of me, I could not see what made this Tri Race so special!
Tri Races are meant to be the guardians of balance. If the balance is ever threatened, they are meant to be able to correct it, even if it means battling a god to do so. They are meant to protect. The only thing I could even see this man protecting was the chance of bedding every woman on the island of Atlantis.
I stopped at the king's chambers and turned to look at Mazuko and Cassius, motioning towards the door. "This is the king's chambers? Will you both be sleeping here, or would either of you like a different room to reside in?" The boy, Cassius, wasted no time to interject. "Um, if it's alright, I'd really appreciate having my own room, please?" I thought to myself. "Well, at least he has manners." Then I said aloud. "That would be fine. I'm sure we can find chambers near your father..." With that said, he interrupted me. "A..actually um... sorry, didn't mean to interrupt you, but could I get a room that's the farthest away from him?" I was utterly confused why he would want to be away from his own father on an island that was entirely unknown to him. I suppose my face gave me away as he added. "He tends to get kind of loud in his room both when he's snoring and... well..." His father, Mazuko, jumped in. "When I have a woman in my room, I don't make it a point to be quiet." he smirked at me with his answer. I rolled my eyes.
He really thinks any of the words he says to me is going to be any sort of flattering. He must be delusional. I looked at Cassius. "Of course, if you'll follow me we will find better accommodations for you." I allow my thoughts to wonder. "I wouldn't want to be near him either." Luckily, something Seido had taught me was to block my mind from being heard by others with telekinetic abilities which these two oh so obviously displayed with all of their 'private' conversations.
I led the boy to the other side of the castle. The only thing that bothered me is that he was only just a corner and 1 hallway away from the princess. But from what I could tell about the boy's character, he wouldn't even have enough guts to go near the princess's room and, hopefully, he won't even find out where she is.
Stepping to the door to his room, I looked at him. "This is the farthest possible point in the castle from your father's room. Hopefully, this will be alright." He smiled lightly at me. "It'll at least muffle the sounds a bit." I looked at him, slightly confused. "Muffle the sounds?" He looked at me like I should already know what he was saying. "Yeah. He and I have the same super hearing. I'm the one that originally heard the alarms from outside the shield. Being far away will muffle the noise from his room, but I could just as easily be outside the shield and still be able to hear him." I was mortified. "Please, tell me your father at least has half the decency to not be so loud to keep everyone in the castle awake at night?" The boy laughed "At least not all night." He smiled at me.
His smile was almost sweet and innocent compared to his father. It was quite refreshing that he didn't act just like him. I don't know what I would have done if I had to deal with 2 of them. "Well, if you need anything, the way back to the entrance doors is down the hall 1 right and two lefts to the staircase. Take it all the way down. The dining hall will be the doorway to the right of the main foyer. The feast will be served at dusk. Oh... you and your father will need to be more presentable at dinner. You will be dining with members of 2 different royal families, after all. There is a tailor in the village. She may be able to fit you and your father with something more suitable."
He looks at his clothes. Judging by his reaction, he's never been too self-aware of his image. He looks back at me and nods. "I'll head that way when I get settled in. I'll grab something for dad to, but I'll be honest, I doubt he'll change what he's wearing." I grimace a bit. The only thing that man was wearing was a pair of leather pants and a leather trench coat. "That can't be the only thing he wears all the time." I looked at him. "Please, do try if you don't mind." Bowing slightly, I leave him to get settled in and head toward the queen's study.
The queen's study is basically a small library filled with files, books, and documents regarding the royal family and their duties to the island. Past queens have even left such things as journal entries for future queens. Queen Caitlyna is here a great deal of the time. She creates many of these journal entries for Kyteller for the day she becomes queen, as if she won't be around to also help her along.
I walk in, going to the desk where the queen is sitting and bow when I approach. "My queen, are you sure about letting these strangers stay on Atlantis? We can repair the shield ourselves. We don't need their help." She looks at me a bit surprised. "Deanna, we're alone, you know I like you using my name when we are alone." I sigh heavily, annoyed she didn't just answer the question. "Caitlyna?" She smiles, stands, and comes around the desk to stand in front of me caressing my cheek softly. I sigh softly. Her hands are always so soft and what's even softer is her lips, which she softly but firmly places against mine for a sweet, passionate kiss. When she pulls away from me, I have to blink a few times to clear my thoughts from the spinning I just felt and look at her in her deep blue eyes.
She smiles at me brightly. "I think welcoming the Tri Race to the island is a smart thing to do. There is no living record of them in the archives." she sounds almost excited. "Deanna, we could learn much about him while he's here at least. Added to the fact he is actually friends with gods!" At this point, she literally beaming at me. "I just don't like the way he presents himself."
She takes my hand in hers. "Well, if there was anyone I know that can handle it and put him in his place, it is my royal adviser." she smiles at me. "If you don't mind, please see to it that Kyteller is ready for dinner?" I nod bowing, slightly. "Yes my queen." when I leave the study I turn closing the door and begin going towards the princess's chambers when I run into something solid as a brick wall. I must have misplaced myself and ran into one of the pillars outside the study. When I finally look up, my once slight smile drops seeing the towering figure in front of me.
With the most pompous smirk I'm sure anyone in existence could possibly muster, the figure finally speaks. "So what's the problem with what I'm wearing, huh, babe?"
