Crazy four

1389 Words

Riley’s POV Everything that is happening right now feels crazy and ridiculous, yet I cannot stop the way my heartbeat skips at her words. “What’s your name?” I ask, my voice quieter than I want it to be. She smiles, small and knowing. “I’m Summer.” “Summer?” I repeat, testing the name. “Yes.” “Well, Summer,” I say, trying to sound firm, “I’m going to disappoint you, but I won’t be going anywhere with a total stranger.” I dig my hand into my bag, pull out my wallet, and take out ten crisp hundred-dollar bills. I hold the money out to her. “Here. It’s a thousand dollars. Since you’re fine and you say you’re an Alpha, this should get you home to wherever you’re coming from, right?” She stares at the money first, then lifts her eyes to mine. The stare is direct and piercing.
