Melanie was woken by a wet nose and gentle sniffing of an animal. She opened one eye and found herself face-to-face with a large rat.
‘I take it you’re not room service then?’ she said calmly with a smile. Melanie sat up and searched her pockets for food. She found a chocolate bar she had been saving. She opened it and bit off a small part and offered it to the hungry rodent. The animal sniffed at then began to feed from her fingers.
‘Well, little one, looks like I’m not the only one looking for something in this dump?’ she smiled. Melanie bit off another chunk from the chocolate snack and laid it on the floor next to her new friend.
