Summers and Elford arrived at the house just as a patrol vehicle was pulling up. Summers and Elford parked their vehicle and walked over to the police car just as the two officers were getting out.
‘Elford, this is Summers,’ Elford said, showing his warrant card. The cop who had gotten out of the passenger side checked the ID and stood up straight.
‘You here about the break-in as well, sarge?’ asked the officer.
‘What break-in?’ Elford asked suspiciously.
‘We got a call to check out a stranger on the property, some nosy neighbour with nothin’ else to do saw her,’ said the constable.
‘Her?’ Summers asked, looking over at the house.
‘Yeah, a young woman all dressed in black. She was smashing up the shed apparently,’ the constable said with a shrug. ‘Well, I guess if you’re here…’ he sm
