RAPHAEL I pushed Delicia away from me. Her eyes widened as she curled on the ground. Grabbing a curtain, I tossed it over her, saying, "I don't want to see that." "Is it because of that wretched-looking b***h? You never had any problems seeing me in nothing. You've really changed, and I don't think I like the new you, Raphael," Delicia remarked. I scoffed, glaring at her. "I changed? I believe you mean you changed because you were never this way!" "I didn't change. You are trying to push me away and have rejected me because of her," Delicia yelled. "That's because we can never have anything together. We're not mates. You're not mate material," I said bluntly, though harsh. I paced to the window, sticking my head out. "f**k it!" I growled, then stared back at her. "Why are you trying to make my life miserable? What do you want from me? Did Mom ask you to do this?" I walked up to her, gripped her shoulder, hoisted her up, and shook her. "Tell me, what the hell did she give you? Any bribe? Immortality? I'll double that to make you leave me alone. I'm trying to think, Delicia, but your presence is ruining everything." Delicia slapped my hand away. "Stop it, Raphael! I am here because I love you." "Please stop," I said, gripping my hair in frustration. "I love you, but you're too blind to see that. You push me away with every little thing you've got. Am I not good enough?" she asked. "f*****g stop," I glared at her. "You're not in love with me. No one is capable of that." "No, you should stop it, Raphael," Delicia stepped towards me, attempting to grip my hand. I halted her. "I'm a freaking beast, Delicia. The sooner you know that, the better for you. Stop attributing love to whatever I do for you because I feel nothing." "That hurts," Delicia staggered backward, gripping her chest. Her eyes brimmed with unshed tears, and she bit her lower lip as it trembled. "How long are you going to reject me for? When do you think is the right time for us to be together, to be a family? I am ready to have your pups, Raphael. I am ready to be paraded as yours." I almost laughed at the absurdity of her words. She was naive. That was my problem with her. She never saw reality; her head remained in the clouds, as it did in her pack. She was lucky I met her. I knew many werewolf lords who would take her and mate with her immediately, not giving her a choice. That was if she was lucky; most would make her a s*x slave. But I hadn't done any of that. I was making her see how absurd it was to be with me. She didn't want to listen. She believed I loathed her. "Maybe never, Delicia. We are not compatible. Not even the fates that visited me seldomly while you were here said anything about you in my future. They said nothing about us being mates, and I told you this before: I don't have the intention of mating with anyone." Delicia creased her brows as she stepped towards me despite my initial command not to do so. "Are you cursed, Raphael? No one is without a mate! Being selfishly by yourself will anger the moon goddess, and she might try to curse you!" I wish it was that easy to explain to her that I was already cursed. I doubted she'd believe me. I let out a sigh and shut my eyes. "Can I just have today to myself? I'm somewhat exhausted from your constant nagging." I didn't know what to do with her. As an alpha king whose authority was never disobeyed, Delicia had been the first to do what others hadn't and would never do. She was the first to come without an invitation, even after I told her not to. She was the first to try to mate with me without my consent. She was the first, constantly nagging at me, and I couldn't do anything about her. If it were others, I'd have them executed. Moreover, they knew never to speak of me in a rash manner. Only Delicia did. "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong," she folded her arms in front of her, and the movement exposed her cleavage, barely covered by the curtain around her. I brushed off her question and gestured with two fingers to my temple. "Your attention is needed, Johnson." I was tired of her, and I didn't think I could keep up with her anymore. "Don't tell me you're calling that dog here to lead me out!" I walked towards the door leading to my room, ignoring her. "Raphael, I am talking to you," she shouted again. My ears twitched, and I let out a sigh. "I should have dumped her with the little opportunity I got. She's trouble." "Raphael, answer me this instant!" I heard her kick at something before she let out a howl, followed by swearing and more yelling. I assumed Johnson had come to lead her out of the room. For a few more seconds, silence ensued, just like how I wanted it. I only hoped Cinzia wasn't this way. Having someone like Delicia with her personality might strip me of my immortality and lead to my demise if it were possible. But I doubted it. I glanced up and imagined Mother cackling at me because of all that was happening. Definitely, it would thrill her to see me suffering. She was lucky to be that powerful and the wife of my father. Otherwise, I'd have snapped her neck if I had the opportunity. But I couldn't. She'd have turned me into a dove before I could do anything to her or, worse, make me blind. And father would have zapped me with lightning if I tried to annoy his wife. So, I stayed away from letting that happen. I could get killed by the gods and goddesses. They could strip off my immortality and make me like a normal being. In my case, I'd be dead immediately if that happened because I've lived for more than two centuries. I didn't know how long I was going to stay this way. I only hoped that sooner, answers to my problems would surface.
