Deja vu

CHAPTER FOUR

Isabella surveyed the hall and just like Eva had said, there were five elders seated already. Some were looking at her with smiles on their face as they felt like the heavens has finally answered their prayers and provided them with their very own Luna that would stand beside their alpha and lead the pack to success, while others were looking at her with dismay and resentment as if they would pay all dime just to get her out of the picture and out of their alpha and pack’s life.

“My apologies to everyone for being late, it was never in my intention to keep you all waiting even if it was just for a COUPLE OF MINUTES”Isabella added stressing the couple of minutes to show the elders that she did not even care as she was late for barely five minutes.

“No problem you may be seated. I am Elder Lucius, and I am the overseer of the east side of this pack, seated beside me is Elder Cornus, who is the overseer of the west side of this pack, over there is Elder Arne who is in charge of the south side, next to him is elder Leviticus who is in charge of the north side and the last person is elder Isis who is also the minister of marriage and rites. So, we are the elders of this pack and I hope as the future luna, you would work and cooperate with us in leading and developing this pack” An old man with grey hair spoke as he introduced each and every one of the elders to her. Just by staring at him, she already knew that he was a friend as he was even smiling at her gently as if she was his granddaughter and he had known her for ages.

“Thank you so much elder, Lucius, I am Isabella, Alpha Ryan’s mate and the destined Luna of this pack, it was nice meeting you all and trust me when I say that I will do all that is within my power to make this pack flourish even more than it already is now and I can't do it on my own and as such, I would need you all guidance and support. I may have been on these lands in the previous years but now I am here as the luna and I am here to stay, and it won't take me anything to get rid of any hurdle that comes either my way or my beloved’s way and together, we will work for the benefit of everyone”. Isabella said with a small smile.

The meeting ended as quick as it had started and before leaving the hall, Isa had already identified those that would be considered as a friend and those that would be seen as a foe and so far, she was okay with it as amongst the elders, only two were seen as an opposition.

“Where is Sea, I haven't seen her all morning” Isabella said while looking around for sea

“Sea stayed back in the pack house as she had to arrange your stuffs for you since you haven't fully moved in yet” Eva added while walking a little bit behind me. I don’t like Sea and Eva walking behind me, although it is understandable as they are my handmaidens but still I feel more comfortable with them and I would love it if they can do the same for me” Isabella said to herself while thinking a little.

“Stuffs?” Isa asked because as far as she knew the only thing she owned in this pack was the cloth that Collins had brought for her yesterday.

“Yes, alpha Ryan asked some people to head over to your pack to fetch your belongings earlier this morning and luckily before they could leave, Alpha Ledger had already sent someone to deliver it to you so Sea is taking care of everything” Eva said while walking with Isabella. They were currently on their way to meet the queen mother for the afternoon tea

“Ok, is there anything I need to know about the queen mother” Isabella asked, although she had met Ryan’s mother on a few occasions, she was still much younger then, people do change and she was not sure about how she would feel seeing her after so many years.

“Well, nothing much except that the queen mother hates two faced people or people that are against her son”. Eva said after thinking for a while. We soon reached the venue for the afternoon tea, the queen mother’s garden and one thing I love about the queen mother which have still not changed about her is her love for nature. Queen mother has always cherished her tulip flowers in her garden and I am surprised that it still looks so beautiful even after many years.

“You may sit down luna, I would inform the queen mother of your presence” A lady who I assume to be the queen mother’s servant informed me.

Isabella sat down, keeping herself busy by surveying her surroundings and then she felt Deja vu by looking at a particular bench near the lake side. She remembered her first time coming to this pack and before she could even control herself, she was already swimming in a pool of memories.

“Mum, dad, I want to go back, I don't know anyone where we are going”young Isabella said while holding the sleeves of her daddy

“You don't need to know them to meet them Isa dear, and trust me you'd love them, they have a son around your brother’s age and a daughter around your age, you all will get along”her father replied while trying to coax her.

“Ok then but promise me that you'd take me to the ballet this weekend when we are back” young Isabella replied

“Sure” her father replied

“You spoil your daughter too much hahaha” Isabella’s mother added while laughing

“I can't say no to any of my daughters, can I?” Isa’s father added with a smile, while they had reached their destination.

“Nik, nice to see you again, and oh you brought your beautiful daughter along, where is her twin and her elder brother?” A middle-aged man around her father’s age asked while looking at her

“Oh, they are at their grandma’s. Isa falls sick whenever she is at her grandma’s place so she won't be going there this year” Isa’s dad replied

“Oh, its ok, come Isa come and meet my son and daughter, I'm sure you'd love them” the man whose name is Leon replied. He held my hand and took me to his wife’s garden where I saw two kids playing near a lake

“Ryan, Alice, look who is here” Mr Leon asked while looking towards his children. As expected, they were confused about who the little girl was but Alice quickly composed herself, ran towards her father, held Isa’s hand and took her to the bench near the lake.

“Look Ryan, isn't she beautiful?” Alice asked Ryan while still staring at me

“Yes, she is, what is your name beautiful girl?” The boy whose name is Ryan asked

I turned my back, only to find out that Mr Leon had already gone, leaving us three alone. When they saw that I was not saying anything, Alice turned to her brother and asked

“Is she deaf, or can't she talk, why is she not saying anything”

“Hey I'm not deaf ok, I just don't feel like saying anything” Isabella finally opened her mouth to talk shocking the two siblings

“Woah, you have a nice voice, I'm Alice, and this is my brother Ryan, I'm twelve while he's fifteen”. Alice added while smiling at Isabella.

“I’m Isabella, nice to meet you both” Isabella said while smiling at both of them

“Uhh Isabella you're so pretty, we’re friends now okay, deal?” Alice added as she stretched her hand out for Isabella to shake

“Deal” Isabella said shaking both Ryan and Alice and thus, that was the beginning of a friendship. One that knew no pain, jealousy or backstabbing in the beginning but can we say the same thing now?

“Isabella, Isabella, Isa?”queen mother reached out to Isabella, waking her up from her reverie.

“Yes, queen mother” Isabella said finally coming back to reality

“Are you ok?” Queen mother asked concernedly at Isabella

“Yes, queen mother, I am doing just fine” Isabella added with a smile

Sipping her tea, queen mother asked “How have your stay in the pack been so far, hope you are being treated rightly?”Queen mother asked feeling concerned for me

“Yes, queen mother, I am being treated rightly and everything is going just fine” Isabella added smiling trying to assure the queen mother.

“Great, now I guess you might have been briefed a little about your responsibility to my son and to the pack but for formality, I would still enlighten you on some things you are meant to know as it is very paramount for you to be informed about these things” Queen mother said with a small smile, paying close attention to Isabella's reaction. Isa could only wonder if Queen mother holds a grudge against her just as her son does but while looking at her smiling genuinely, Isabella felt relieved as it felt like queen mother holds no grudge against her.

“Yes mother, Eva briefed me a little about the pack but I am not yet aware of my responsibilities to the Alpha” Isabella said while looking down at her fingers.

“It is not something that hard, all you have to do is stick to my son no matter what, as he has enemies who are trying to bring him down and I would not tolerate any betrayal especially when it concerns my son’s title and bear his heir too” the queen mother said with all seriousness

“Trust me mother, I would never betray nor let go of the alpha. The moon chose me for a reason and the heavens makes no mistakes. Although I won't deny that I might have hurt him in the past, but I am here now to correct all my wrongs and no one else is fit to stay with Ryan except me” Isabella said with all determination.

“Very good, that is all I need to hear, I would let you go for now as I'm sure that you would be so tired as you've not rested since morning, I guess we would be having more tea time as from now, you may go now daughter-in-law”. The queen mother said while smiling at Isabella. Isa blushed a little and said

“Thank you, mother, I would take my leave now” saying that, Isabella stood up and took her leave while the queen mother remained seated hoping for all the best for her son and his new mate.

Meanwhile, Isabella went back to her room and was about to change her cloth when she heard a knock on the door

“It is me, my luna”Collins said behind the door

“Come in”Isabella said after hearing his voice signifying, he was the one

“My luna, our Alpha has accepted your request to see him”Collins said after he entered the room

“Very well, please lead me to his room”Isabella said with a small smile

Collins nodded after which he led the way to the alpha’s room, while Isabella could only wish that Ryan would at least listen to her own explanation of what happened two years ago.
