Sisyphyra is now on webNovel ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Spending half a day in the ocean was a choice on its own. This reminds me of the woman I once was before I knew the true colors of what people can do. Myriad colors filled with pride, envy, and hate. Their promination made me sell my soul for vengeance. They say vengeance is the Lord's but I couldn't wait for the long timing, it was long. Longer than the length of a g*n and I don't have that inner peace to wait despite the grief they caused. Selling my soul was nothing new it's just that it gave me all that I needed to accomplish my motives all for a prize I had to pay. To me, it was worth it. A prize to relieve me of the ache and to take some souls along. I savor this…I'm heartless. I know. If my brother didn't die maybe I won't be. I lived with my brother in a little house on the island of Madagascar. Our house is by the edge of the cliff , the house looked like a bird's nest fastened to the rock by green creeping plants growing up from the rock. I often look out through the window onto the terrible sea through which ships find it unsafe to go. We lived alone, our parents had died in a shipwreck many years ago while making a fishing trip to the port of Côte d'Ivoire. Since then, we had lived alone. My brother and I were two different entities, I'm introverted while he is extroverted. Preferring the outdoor, he tends to wander the streets and hang out with so-called friends who at times bully him ordering him to do the unthinkable even for a teenager. They'll tell him to steal from the poor or at times play a trick on an elder. I wonder why he wanted to prove himself to these sets of mischief. One evening, a quarrel broke out midst his group, and my brother was thrown into the sea by the one and only Shaba. That night, Shaba and his family migrated to the Shores of the Nile and finally settled at a small town very close to Egypt. When they brought my brother's body, I was shocked and could barely feel or cry but one thing was for certain I understood that he was dead. That brought an awareness alright, but it wasn't close to comfort. As we laid his body to the ground, I promised him a vendetta. The next day, I shut myself locked up in my room moaning, and stared at his portrait all day long this went on for weeks until my friend Rita came knocking. I didn't want to see anyone let alone friends, I detested their self-pity and affection, it was like I was handed a rose but it was full of thorns. I reported to the constable but the law enforcement officer still couldn't get a hold of Shaba, after several weeks everyone forgot about the incident like it never happened. Such an incidence like mine isn't the first, there were a series of cases that involved death and stolen properties yet the perpetrators would travel on exile to another town when the situation they had caused is calm. You will see them come back like it never happened. I waited alright, I waited for years still Shaba never stepped his foot on the island not even for a visit. "You will be avenged my dear brother, you'll be avenged. I promise and I will always keep my promise, you know it" I kissed his picture, and the tears I had held back came off freely. All alone, I was thinking about how to get back at him. We had no one, no relative to carry out the vendetta. From morning till night, all day long I thought of ways to move up to Egypt to make my revenge successful. You see, I had no money to travel let alone to eat healthily. I had no one to help me. But the promise I had made fueled me. One night having dreamed of my brother, I discovered an idea, I thought about it till daybreak. As soon as it was morning, I set out to the church to see the priest confess all my "about-to" actions. Then I prayed to lie on the stone floor and light a candle on the altar asking God to help me. I asked him to send a strong man to help me, a man that will find my body alluring enough to take me to Egypt. It was already dark when I finally made my way out of the church. My stomach grumbled loudly, then I remembered that I had packed a loaf of bread in the morning. I opened my satchel and brought out the bread. As I was about to munch on it, a wretched-looking man who seemed like a beggar but strangely looked like a sorcerer asked me for the bread. I had moved away repulsed by his stinking smell and his set of stained teeth but his statement caused me to rethink. "You want to avenge your brother, I can help you. Just give me the bread. I am very hungry" he said I was hungry too. Very. I wondered if this was the strong man I had just prayed for but he cut me off . "I am not the strong man you were looking for, but I can help you" I was frightened by his outburst. He sure could read minds. I gave him the bread, which he roughly grabbed from my hands and gave a burst of mysterious laughter. Then he dipped his hand into his pocket and gave me a very beautiful necklace. I have never seen anything like it before. It looked so expensive and I wondered how such a piece was with him. Then he extended it to me, "This is now yours" "What! I'm sorry there isn't the cost of bread it's more than it. I can't collect it" I declared. "You want to meet the strong man, don't you?" "Yes, I do" nodding "Then you will need this" I collected it and the blue stones on it glittered in the moon glow."Don't let a soul see you take it off your throat, okay?" "Okay" And off he went thanking again for the bread.
