“Suki??” (My name is Sakura but my mom has called me Suki for longer than I can remember) I woke with a start, noticing that the car had stopped moving. “Mom?” “Suki, we are here, hon, I’m sorry to wake you up, but we need to get moving” uh. Why couldn’t she just leave me be for five minutes? I was tired from the journey and just wanted to sleep. Then I look at her. She has dark circles under her beautiful violet eyes, her skin sullen and pale. I suddenly feel selfish as I realised she was probably more tired than I was. “I’m sorry, mom. I know you’re really tired too. I didn’t mean to upset you”. She looks at me, with an unreadable face. “Come on, let’s just get to our new home, then we can try and settle in” I nodded in understanding. We drew up to double gates, they were bigger than any other I’d seen! A guard came over to the car and asked my moms name, which she gave. After a few minutes, the guard waved us on and the gates creaked open. Onward, I guess. We drive for a few minutes after we entered the gates until we got to a small speaker, like they type you encounter at a drive thru, they again asked my mom her name, which she gave yet again, and again we were told to ‘follow the arrows’. We did and we came upon a small shack, with a single guard inside, he looked at us, then gave us a small keyring with five keys on it. “Drive down that road, then go to your left. Your house is the third one on the right” my mom, being the sweet soul she is, thanked the guard (even though he wasn’t very welcoming) then continued following his instructions. We arrived at our new home ten minutes later.
