Katarina looks out the window and then looks at me.
"Where are we?"
"It’s a new location. Only Igor and a few soldiers know about it, but the grounds are heavily guarded."
"Guarded?" She looks so confused that I understand immediately. She still doesn’t know. Katarina hasn’t yet grasped the magnitude of what happened in that church.
I open my mouth and then close it.
That can wait.
For now…
Esteban and Iñaki are dragging Demyan inside; he’s awake now, and from here we can hear the vulgarities he’s shouting. I smile, pleased, when Esteban hits him and he drops to his knees, wrists still chained behind his back.
"Do you want to have some fun?" I ask Igor.
"I’ve been wanting to for years."
Katarina looks from one to the other, confused, and I smile a little at her innocence.
