Seline skipped breakfast that day, not having much of an appetite, and it seemed that the rest of the camp did not either, as there were not many men in line when she passed the chuck wagon. Will had been even more silent than he had in the last few days and Seline knew that the scene they had just witnessed was weighing heavily on his mind. He felt it had been his responsibility to get her out of here that first night, and he had failed. Now she was in even more danger, and he had no way to safely get her out of camp and away from the army.
