Chapter 11 Living or dying within the next forty-eight hours was all dependent on one thing for Heaven—Mick Jennings. He swore to Captain Laveaux that he had healed enough to transport Heaven, Layne, and Adalyn tonight. The rest of the family would join them in waves until Mick had transferred everyone from the house in Brightsville to Heaven’s maternal grandparents’ old estate near the Kentucky-Tennessee border. She glanced at the Grandfather clock, noting both hands were nearing the twelve. Almost midnight. In a few minutes, she would leave her childhood home and once again go on the run from The Fallen. At least she was familiar with the place they were going this time, even though she hadn’t been to her grandparents’ estate since they passed away when she and her sisters were five.
