Epilogue
Heaven sipped the coffee from the mug in her hand and gazed at the lawn in the cottage’s backyard. Adalyn, Jeremiah, and Sophia were taking turns climbing over Garrett, who was lying on the ground, acting as a jungle gym. Hope was sitting with him, laughing and smiling while she bounced Alayna on her leg.
Alayna was busy watching her sister and cousins play. She worked her hands and feet as if she was trying to get off her aunt’s lap so she could join the fun. At five months old, she’d hit many developmental milestones, but it would be some time before she could run and romp with the others.
When Heaven sensed a set of eyes burning into her, she lowered her mug and kept her attention on her children. “Is there any other news to report, Captain Laveaux?”
