Beverly
My heart raced as Romero marched determinedly towards us, his eyes blazing with fury. I was frozen to the spot, my mind spinning as I desperately tried to guess what he was about to do.
Annette stood next to me, her body trembling in fear.
Without warning, Romero lunged forward and grabbed me, hauling me away from Annette with one strong arm. I stumbled backward, and he stepped in front of me, blocking me from whatever danger he thought we were facing. His voice boomed out, "Stop it!"
I stood rigidly; my mind was numb with fear. I could feel Annette's eyes on me, but I couldn't turn to look. All I could do was wait, my heart thumping in my chest, as I watched Romero face down whatever was coming our way.
"Enough!" He barked, his voice filling the air with a sense of urgency. The girls took a few steps back, intimidated by his sudden outburst. He softened his voice and addressed them with a pleading tone. "It's enough already."
Why not let her be? She's been through enough, and you two are just making her life unbearable. "Please, just let her go."
I was taken aback by Romero's words. He was defending me even though he could gain nothing from it. Patricia and her friend seemed equally shocked. They were left speechless, unable to come up with a response.
Romero Davis was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Davis, powerful and influential figures in Claws Park. Although it wasn't as influential as Hazard, the Davis family was still not to be taken lightly.
Romero continued to plead despite the power the girls held. I could only wonder what his intentions were. "Let her go, please," he said.
The girls seemed too stunned to reply, but eventually, they stepped back and gave up. I was relieved, but I couldn't help but wonder why Romero had come to my rescue. What was it that he wanted from me?
"I need her!" he added, making my heart sink into my stomach. I wondered what he needed me for, and I swallowed hard as I began sweating profusely. Romero had never bullied me, and I wondered what it would feel like to be bullied by him.
I knew it was going to be a tough one; I knew I was done for it.
It occurred to me to take to my heels, but I pushed the thought away because I knew what would happen if I did.
The girls turned around to leave without uttering a word to Romero, but there was one more thing I could pick up from Patricia's eyes when she gave me her last glance before leaving. It was jealousy! I didn't know what to do or why, but I knew she was jealous.
Romero turned to me with a smile; at least that was the last thing I saw before I slumped and passed out.

My mind raced as I slowly opened my eyes, my vision was still blurry. I could see the silhouette of a person but couldn't make out who it was. I rubbed my eyes roughly and widened them to enhance my vision.
Suddenly, my heart skipped a beat as I saw clearly who was seated in front of me. "Romero!" I exclaimed in surprise. He looked so handsome when he smiled, and I almost couldn't believe my eyes.
He chuckled slightly and cleared his throat before giving a reply. "You're in safe hands now," he said with a smile, "and there's no need to panic as your knight in shining armor has brought you to safety."
I wanted to believe his words and live in the dream world I was in, but I knew it was only for a second. I tried to raise myself, but he insisted I stay put. "No! "Don't try to stand up; you will only end up hurting yourself more; you need some rest."
I sighed in relief and let my body relax, knowing I was safe in the arms of my knight in shining armor.
"What if you had indeed died while I was waiting for the right time?" Romero asked, his gaze penetrating my soul. "In that case, I would have been the one to bring you back,” he said with a confident yet caring tone.
His words felt like a warm embrace, a promise that my knight in shining armor had finally come to my rescue. My heart was pounding and my eyes welled up with tears of joy and relief.
He continued, "Your knight in shining armor is here now, and he will never let you down again."
"I will be your protector, your defender, and your faithful companion, no matter what life throws at you." His words gave me strength and courage; I was no longer alone. I realized that my knight in shining armor had been there all along; he was just waiting for the perfect moment to show himself.
My knight had come to save me, and I would never be alone again.
"Your knight knew you were a strong woman and nothing was going to happen to you; he knew your limits and he knew you could endure it all while he prepared," he responded and smiled again, this time revealing white sets of teeth. I stared in awe, unsure of how to react. He seemed almost too perfect to be real.
"Please tell me I'm not dreaming," I asked him, unable to believe that all this was happening. "No, my dear, you aren't dreaming, and I am for real; I mean no harm," he assured me, and I felt my heart skip a beat. I was sure I hadn't been dreaming, but I had to make sure.
Although Romero had given me an antidote to suppress the power of the soured milk, I still felt dizzy and sick. I looked around for the red bumps and scars, but they were nowhere to be found.
I had been saved from the dark forces that had been attacking me. "Thank you so much, my knight in shining armor," I said weakly before sinking deeply into sleep, feeling safe for the first time in what felt like years.

That is when he first came in—the most handsome figure I had ever seen. His face was so perfect; his eyes were a deep blue, his hair was a light brown, and his smile was the brightest I had ever seen.
He had come to save me from the bullies and had even defended me from the werewolf that had been stalking me. He even said he was my knight in shining armor! I said this excitedly and hugged Sarah, who was still in disbelief as I narrated what had happened.
"Are you done?" she asked, still not believing what I had told her.
"Yes, why? "Do you want to add something to it?" I asked, mimicking her favorite word.
Sarah had been my best and only friend since I lost my parents to an attack by the werewolf.
She had asked her parents to adopt me, and we were both enrolled in Meadows High, a school for supernatural beings where we would both master our powers.
Sarah was the only one who was doing well in school and was also mastering and using her powers; I was only there to watch others learn and get bullied.
"I would only agree that what you told me is true if I could see it with my own two eyes," Sarah replied. I wasn't expecting her to believe in the first place. My best friend was doubting Thomas, and I only wanted to tell her.
"Do you not believe me?" Am I a liar now? Why do you always doubt me and everyone else? "Why do you always doubt me when I have never told a lie to you?"
I was sincere with Sarah and told her everything, but I wasn't sure about the part where I said I'd never lied to her.
Sarah stood up forcefully from her bunk and walked up to me. We were alone in the room; it was shared by us alone, so we did whatever we liked with it.
"Okay, we are going to find out whether or not it's the truth; I'll be the judge after seeing with my own two eyes. Let's go!" She grabbed my hand.
"Ouch! Ouch! That hurts!" I screamed and took my hand away from her forcefully.
"! I thought you said he gave you a massage. "Why do you still feel pain there?" She asked mockingly, "And why aren't you healing?".
10"It's a dummy for dislocation! “Romero isn't a magician," I replied angrily, and Sarah laughed for a bit, choking and coughing at her laughter.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked her, getting more infuriated.
"I'm sorry; I just can't help it." "I just can't help the look on your face whenever you're mad," she mocked me. Sarah placed her fingers on my chin to rub it, but I hit them off forcefully.
"All right, let's go to Romero and ask him if this will put an end to everything," she replied, laughing.
I was about to reply when the door slammed shut and the laughter stopped abruptly. I was standing there, petrified, as the girls marched towards us. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice trembling.
The girls stared at us with menacing eyes, and then one of them spoke. "We've come to finish what we started," she said in a cold voice. I felt my legs shaking, and my heart raced even faster. What did they mean? What were they planning?
I was about to find out, but then the alarm clock rang, and I woke up in a sweat. What was this all about? What did they want? I looked around the room, my heart still pounding, dreading the answer I'd find.
