Chapter 13

2645 Words

13 Kira pulled her favorite Nine Inch Nails T-shirt over her head and tied her hair back into its usual ponytail. It felt good to be dressed as herself again. She glanced out the motel window. Saturday morning had dawned sunny and clear. The odd vehicle drove by on the highway outside. She and Trevor had spent several hours the day before going over all the case notes Kira had brought with her, thanks to Rob’s scrounging. Eight girls had gone missing in an eleven-month period spanning 1987 and 1988. All of them had been between the ages of sixteen to eighteen, and were last seen somewhere in the vicinity of Redcliffe. Nadine Parker was the only local. The other girls were mostly runaways, so the police hadn’t spend much time searching, or connecting their disappearances to one another.
