17 Kira slumped over the wooden table, nursing her beer. She didn’t usually drink, but today she definitely needed one. She was at Wally’s—Redcliffe’s finest dive bar—waiting for Trevor. They had split up to work their way through their list of potential witnesses. Trevor had taken the rental car, and Kira had focused on the main drag around the motel. Her gaze roamed the bar, looking for anyone who might be out of place. Christmas lights and neon signs glowed from the rafters and walls. Mounted fish and stuffed animal heads stared down at her from above as country music played in the background. Even though it was later in the day, the bar was still relatively quiet.
