Buckle Down

Raelynne's POV:

A few days after the ceremony and the attack we were just getting back to normal. Uncle Cain comes over with the witch today. And I couldn't be more excited to tap into my powers. I wake up with so much energy that Connor looks worried. "Babe, slow down. Don't burn out all the energy you have."

"Don't worry I'll be fine. Do you know when they will get here?" I ask impatiently. "They should be here soon enough." Connor tells me. Man, I'm so excited to finally know what my powers are. I mean, I tapped into them a few days ago, but I'm ready to start working on using my powers more and more.

I'm sitting in Connor's office waiting for him to come in. "Anyway, I just thought I'd-" stops dead in his tracks. "What Connor, speechless? You might be wondering what I'm doing in your office. Go ahead and end the call." I'm laughing on the inside and so is Blue. "Hey, I have to call you back. Yes father, I know. I'll call you back." He hangs up the call, shuts and locks the door behind him and charges over to me. "What do you think you're doing?" He sounds pissed, but something else is in his voice, I just can't quite tell what it is. "Lil' ole me? I'm just waiting for my mate. Nothing suspicious." I giggle. He growls at me. "Rae, I'm warning you now, don't start something you can't finish." He says, catching what I'm trying to do. I figured after everything we've been through that I should give him a reward, or something that's not business. "Connor" I walk up to him and run my hand along his chest, "I just thought you needed a break from all this business and pack stuff. We finally have a few moments to do what we want. So, let's take this."

His eyes are dancing on the edge of taking my offer. "C'mon, Connor. Give in, just this one time." Before he can even protest against me, he slams his mouth against mine. I moan into the kiss. It's not just a kiss of passion, it's of want, need and hunger. "Rae, I can't tell you how long I've wanted you alone. It's been weeks since we could actually be together." Now that I think about it, he's right, we've never had an actual moment alone. Since my arrival here we've been really busy. No time for us to complete the mating ceremony.

Just as I'm getting in the kiss a sharp pain comes to my abdomen. "Ahhh" I scream out and grab my stomach. Connor immediately stops roaming my body and drops to the floor with me, "What's wrong, Rae? Tell me what's wrong." He's pleading me to tell him what's wrong, but truth is, I don't know. "Oh wait. I know what's going on." He says this and walks out the room. I don't know how, but the pain gets worse. Oh god make it stop!! Rae, it's heat. You're going through your heat! Blue informs me, What's heat, and how do I make it stop?

You need to mate with Connor. Mate? What does that even mean? Blue must've sensed my confusion. You need to make love with your mate, Rae. I'm pretty sure you know what that means. As she says this, she puts her paw on her head and shakes her head at me. After my conversation with Blue, Connor walks through the door, with mom? "Sweetie, how are you feeling?" My mother asks me, like she can't see I'm literally DIEING. "Mom, what's mating? And Imma have to do it with Connor." I say this and look at Connor, who's looking at anyone but me with red creeping up his face. "Raelynne, mating is finalizing that you've found your mate. After you've been marked" She gestures to my bite mark on my neck, "you have only so long until your heat to be fully mated. This means you will be in pain for the next few days until you are fully mated with Connor. You need to keep her away from unmated males. Understood, Connor?" She says the last two sentences to Connor. He shakes his head yes, then proceeds to lift me up and walk to the room.

On the way to the room we pass many wolves, one in particular is Liam, the Beta. "Alpha, is everything okay?" He looks at me in Connor's arms and his eyes turn dark as night. "She needs to get away from me Alpha. NOW! And with all do respect!" At this point Connor is running with me in his arms until we reach our room. "Lay down, I'm going to run you a bath." He sets me down in the middle of the bed and runs to the bathroom to get my bath ready.

Connor's POV:

Mating? Now? Why did this have to happen when everything was going good? I can't mate with her, she's probably not ready to have s*x, she's also probably never done it. I get her bath ready then go to grab her. "Connor, you'll have to help me take off my clothes. I know it's weird but we're mates, meant to be. Sonner or later we were going to have to do this." She tells me as I set her on the bathroom counter. I take her shirt off and help her get undressed. She tries to cover herself, she seems embarrassed by the fact I'm seeing her like this. "Let's get you in the tub." I lift her off the counter into the tub and help her get bathed and wash her hair. This all feels so weird, if you asked me two months ago what I'd be doing, my answer wouldn't have been washing my mates hair.

I finish her bath and help her get dressed, then to the bed she goes. She's in so much pain that it hurts me to see her like this, a;; I wanna do is help her but I don't know how. "Connor?" She calls for my attention, "Yes, love?" She motions me to come sit next to her, "Come lay with me? Please?" I walk over to the other side of the bed and lay next to her. She cuddles up next to me and next thing I know we fall asleep next to each other.

Raelynne's POV:

I wake up the next morning to an empty bed and so much pain that I'm bawling my eyes out. Connor runs into the room and runs to my side. "What's wrong? Are you hurt?" I nod my head yes, "I am now that you're here with me. Please, don't leave me again." The pain stopped but it's still there just less than five minutes ago. "Alright, I promise. I'm staying by your side until this stops." I look up at him and smile, "What about your work, Connor? You can't just stop working cause of me." I hate that he's putting me first. I hate this feeling of being needy, it's gross.

He lifts my head up with his thumb underneath my chin, "Baby, I will always be there when you need me. You are my top priority. Always and forever, my love." I blush and look down at his response. I've never been with a guy that cared for me so much before. "I love you, Connor." And when I said that, I immediately regretted it. The look on his face was something I couldn't decipher, "You know what, forget I said that." He shakes his head no at me and captures my lips with his. "Never regret saying you love me. Never, you hear me?" I shake my head yes and kiss him hard. I climb on top of him and straddle him with my knees on either side of his hips. "Say you love me, Connor. Please?"

"I, Connor Johnson, take Raelynne Hawthorne as my mate and Luna. I love you my little Rae. So much." I take his lips in a hungry kiss. "I do too, Connor Johnson. I love you." With that he flips me on my back and his lips travel all over my neck and lips. I moan at his touch, craving more of it. "Connor," a pleading whisper of his name leaves my lips. "Raelynne, I want you right now." He growls at me. I can sense his wolf trying to take control. I give him a nod of my permission and smile at him. "Are you sure? We don't have to if you're not ready." I take my hand and caress his face, sliding my thumb across his lips, "I've never been more sure of anything in my life than I am right now." I whisper in his ear, "Take it Connor." He growls happily at my response, takes my lips in his and for the rest of the night we make love and get to know each others body better than we knew before.
