Is It Really that Bad?

Skylar and I walk into the house and see mom sitting at the counter. “Hey, I thought you weren’t coming home tonight, ma?” I ask her. She looks at me and motions to a seat next to her. “Go upstairs, Sky. Me and Rae have to talk.” Sky walks right upstairs as I sit down next to mom, she starts talking as she hears his door shut. “So I heard you had an incident today at school. Tell me what happened.” I explain to the best of my knowledge of everything up to the point I touched Taylor. “And I also have something else to talk to you about. So, when I touched Taylor, I blacked out. There was a white room.” Before I could go any further she told me to be quiet. “Listen to me and listen good Rae. There is something I’ve been keeping from you and your brother. You aren’t human.” I go to say something, she cuts me off, “No, Rae, listen. You saw a vision, right?” She asks, I nod. “Okay, so, you are a tribrid. Witch-Werewolf-Human. I know, it sounds surreal, but it’s true. Your brother isn’t though. He’s just half human and werewolf. I know it’s going to be a lot to take in. I’ll give you time. I’m going to go and talk to your brother. I love you, Rae. Never forget that. What I did was to protect you from your father. He must not know what you truly are. You’re special. First witch to be born from his bloodline, he will do everything he can to find you. Be careful, okay?” I shake my head yeah and head upstairs. I walked into my room and burst into tears. So, what happened earlier with that guy makes complete sense now. I’m too tired for this. I get in bed and sleep captures me.

I woke up to my tapping on my window. “Ugh.” I roll out of bed to open the window, “Hurry, it’s cold out here.” Of course, it’s this guy. I can’t catch a break with him. “Well, look who finally decides to wake up.” I gave him a look . “Alright, okay, I understand. Now I’m coming into your room.” He nudges me out of the way so he can waltz in like he owns the place. “Really dude. What are you doing here?” He laughs and shrugs at me. “Did you find out anything you wanted to know about yourself?” Say what? “I know who you are, Raelynn Hawthorne. Tribrid, first born witch of the Hawthorne bloodline. You’re very powerful, so they say. So, do you know what powers you have, little witch?” What? “Listen dude, I’m wrapping my head around this. It all came up on me like a fast ball I didn’t ask for. Who even are you?”

He looks at me smuggly, “Name’s Connor Johnson. Alpha of Bridgewood Pack on a quest to find my mate. Which, little miss witch is you. Surprise!” No way. I’ve read stories about werewolves but never knew I would be one or even mated to one. “There’s no way. This isn’t real. You’re lying. Get out of my room. Okay?” He laughs at me, “No, little witch. You’re mine and I’m not letting anyone take you from me. Okay?” Yeah, I can’t deal with this possessiveness of this guy. “So, your father is Gregory Hawthorne? I heard he’s looking for you. He’s pissed. He’s the Beta of our pack and he’s got a very bad temper. But, don’t worry my little witch, I’ll protect you, because no one touches what’s mine.” He says that with a huge smile on his face. He looks proud to say that. But I’m going to put a stop to this. Just as I’m about to tell him to f off very nicely, mom rushes into the room. “Rae, get your crap together. We’ve got to move. Now! He’s found out you’ve come into your powers, there’s no chancing he won’t find you here. And is that, oh my god! Alpha Connor.” Mom bows her head down like she’s in trouble. “What are you doing crazy child, bow your head.” Connor growls at mom, “SHE WILL NOT DO SUCH A THING, SHE IS MY MATE.” Just then Skylar runs into my room, “C’mon Rae, we’ve gotta go. Dad’s coming for you!” He’s running around, down stairs. “Alright, little witch. Let’s get you packed up and to the pack house. Your family can come too, they’ll be safe there away from your father.”

Two hours later we’ve packed everything that we’re taking to the pack house, just as we are heading downstairs the front door slams open. I just know it’s our father. “Where are you, my children?” See I was right. A cold shiver runs down my spine, “Let’s head out through the window. We’ll be safer going this way.” We all head out my bedroom window. Connor’s on the phone with his dad telling him we’re on the way. “Okay, there’s a car waiting for us down the road. We just have to hurry because he can hear every step we take.” We hurry down the street and make it to the car. We throw all our things, not caring if they break, into the back of the SUV. Just then I’m snatched away from Connors grip. My dad’s holding me in a vice-like grip. He’s not budging when I’m thrashing, pleading for him to let me go, still nothing is working with him. “LET HER GO. AS YOUR ALPHA I COMMAND YOU NOW!” And he does just that, reluctantly I might add. “I will come back and get you my little Rae of sunshine.” With that, he runs off into the woods. Those words leave shivers going down my spine.

We make it to the pack house, all I can do is break down and cry. I’m finally safe from him. For how long, I don’t really have that answer right now. “C’mon. Let’s get you settled in your room. It’s up here on the third floor.” He takes me to the elevator, yeah I know right, elevator. It blows my mind. I’m laughing out loud at this point. “What’s so funny, Rae?” Connor questions. “I dunno, just that you live in a freaking mansion with millions of others. I’m a freaking witch, wolf tribrid thingy. My dad tried kidnapping me. I’m mated to an alpha. You name it. I’m tired and wanting to crash. Show me to the room so I can sleep. I’m begging you at this point Connor.” He laughs at me. I shove him. He shows me where I’ll be staying until I finally accept the fact he’s my mate, whatever the hell that means, by the way. We bid each other good night and see you tomorrow’s. I fall flat on the bed, feels like heaven, smells amazing, just like Connor. That little tidbit doesn’t come to me like it should. As I’m about to fall asleep I remember something, but that can wait till tomorrow morning. Life’s gonna get more interesting from now on.
