Hennery awoke late the next morning. The gentle sounds of the nearby Ragerond weighed on his awareness like a warm blanket, so that he almost didn’t notice the other, sharper clattering that greeted his ears. Frowning, he rose and followed the sounds to a small clearing a short distance upriver where Tiryon and Galen were engaged in what appeared to be a friendly duel. Galen held his staff before him in a neutral grip, while Tiryon was using his Tyshoan arcblade, and the single sharpened edge of the blade glittered in the morning light. Judging from the way they circled each other and held their respective arms, Hennery quickly decided Tiryon was the superior fighter, which wasn’t surprising considering the number of swords he seemed to carry.
