The next dawn brought with it a welcome warmth to drive away the lingering fog of the dark night. As they continued their travels, Hennery was able to take stock of the forest they traversed. It was predominated by pines and was similar to the broad pine savanna they had traveled through to the southwest, although here there were more waist high grasses and the trees bore the distinctive marks of having burned some years before. And while there were still a few rocks scattered about in the tall grass, much of the topsoil was becoming sandier as they neared the western edge of Three Seas.
