14. The Three Seas

After a full day on the small boat, Hennery found the excitement of their nautical voyage beginning to fade. He enjoyed the sounds of the water lapping against the hull, and the smell of the crisp wind as it tousled his hair, but beyond those lovely sensory details, there was a great deal of tedium. He spent some time watching the coast slide by on their right, but soon it was so distant—barely a squiggle of green on the horizon—that the details were impossible to decipher. At times, it almost appeared as though they weren’t moving at all. As such, Hennery gratefully accepted the brief lessons on managing the tiller and sails that Tiryon offered him, but with the beautiful weather, there was little that needed to be managed as they glided effortlessly across the broad blue expanse.
