"Ahhh!!!" Chloe yanked her hand back after realizing what she had grabbed, looking as if she'd been electrocuted. The air between us was thick with awkwardness.
I gave her a wry smile and explained, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Please understand."
Luckily, the awkwardness didn't last long. Once we saw no one was outside, we pushed open the restroom door. After successfully leaving the hotel, Chloe and I both let out a long sigh of relief.
Then we took a cab back to South Ocean University and headed to our classrooms. On the way, I began hesitating about telling Vincent about Skyler but then I realized I couldn't rely on him for everything. I needed to build up my own influence and power. With that in mind, I put away my phone, ready to handle Skyler on my own.
