She was given lots of herbs for hair growth from the very nice women, so she had no problem keeping her hair long. “And this must be Raphael” She said as she bent down to his height “You look like an angel….oh my aren't you the cutest boy in the world” At such a young age, Raphael was a show stopper, he looked so pretty. “Good afternoon Aunty Megan” His mum has always thought him to greet his elders, and looking at his aunt Megan, she looked like she would cause a lot of chaos. “You sound so intelligent too” Megan was more than delighted about becoming an aunty. “Aunty has so much toys for you” She said beeming with happiness. The night was cold as Megan closed the windows of Raphael’s room. “Don't worry Megan, once I get a job, I'd leave your hair” Abigail said as she looked through the bunch of papers in her hands. Megan rolled her eyes as she huffed angrily. “You just arrived in New York, and we just met after 4 years, why are you in such a hurry to leave” She asked, she knew that Abigail wasn't the one to ask for favors or even inconvenience others. “Even still, I'm looking for a job right now and before you know it, I'd be out” Megan was getting annoyed “Have we become worse than strangers after staying in India” Abigail stopped ruffling the papers in her hands as she looked up to Megan who held two mugs “Of course not, why would you ever be a stranger” She asked as she stood up to hug her friend “Then do not worry about staying here. To be honest, it's quite boring living here alone, there's no sign of life, and Raphael would fill in the silence” She said as Abigail's eyes twitched a little. Raphael was….more quiet than other children. He rather play a piano than join the other kids run around in the compound. And whenever he joins them, he's always causing trouble for them. At first she thought he'd grow out of that stage, but when she noticed that he became more quiet, rarely uttering a word, she became worried. The school teacher said that the had a hard time talking to him as he doesn't respond to them or interacts with his mates, but he's facing middle school maths questions and acing it, and he is learning the piano like he was a lot older than his age. While they were impressed and amused by his brain, they were always worried about the nature of his character. They even suspected that he was autistic. So she took him to a hospital and they said that there was nothing particularly wrong with him. And that maybe he was so intelligent that it messes with him therefore making him a bit quiet. And she should try making him play more. And so she did, every weekend she sent him out to play and makes sure that he does before she rests. Not long after, he ruled the play ground and made them act according to his wish. “How have you been Abby?” Megan couldn't forget the petrified look on Abigail's face when she found out she was pregnant, and that had haunted her since. Although she was happy that she has Raphael by her side, she knew that it is wasn't even an easy journey. “I'm sorry I wasn't by your side when he was born, I really wanted to be there” She said as a tear rolled down her cheek “Megan…don't blame yourself” She said as she wiped the tear off her her face. “I'm doing good you see, I have Raphael and I got my diploma and all my friends in India…and besides I knew that if you had the power you would have rushed to my side” She said as she pat Megan's head. “By the way, you are doing marvelous too, you own your own fashion studio and you have an apartment and you dyed your hair blonde, and you look absolutely stunning” She said as she had a smile…. “You're really doing so well” Megan looked up at Abigail, she really looked like a model, she often wondered how she managed to look so stunning effortlessly. “And….I've applied to so many companies, so I have a bunch of interviews to get to, and so does Raphael, he has to meet the Principal tomorrow for his scholarship” Megan immediately got up “I have nothing to do tomorrow, why not go for the interview and me and my sweet boy take a tour around New York City” Abigail chuckled “Are you sure….he is….a handful” She knew her son and how stubborn he could be, and she didn't want to impose. “I wouldn't expect less” She said as she immediately stacked the papers together “Now you have a long day tomorrow, so I suggest you get to sleep” Megan said like a nagging mother. “I thought we'd gossip a little with some wine this night, it's been so longg” Abigail said as she was pushed into the room “Nope, you must rest now” Pushing her into the bed she turned off the light and blew her a kiss “Good night Abby…” She said quietly as she gently shut the door. The next day, Abigail immediately sprang up from the bed and rushed into the bathroom. She took a quick shower and went back to her room only to see neatly arranged work clothes on her bed. She smiled a bit as she immediately put it on, applying a bit of makeup she debated having her hair packed in a bun or dropped. At the end she did a slick bun and let some strands lose in the front. Coming out of her room, she met breakfast on the table as Raphael helped Megan clean up the dishes. “Good morning our newest employee” Megan sang as she dropped the bread on the table.
