I had laid my cards on the table plain and simple, but Sean still thought I was too stubborn to admit the truth.
"Quit lying to me. You don't even have the basic necessities, so how happy could you possibly be?"
Seeing how ridiculously fixated he was, I heaved a sigh.
"Move on, Sean. Jessica has stayed loyal to you all these years. You owe her a proper commitment. Besides, I'm getting married soon. It's not appropriate for us to meet alone like this."
Right as I finished speaking, I spotted Ethan walking over to pick me up. He was looking back at me, a soft smile playing across his features.
Watching the obvious chemistry between us, Sean's face soured, bitter and resentful.
"You didn't drive? He's making you take the subway again?"
I paused for a couple of seconds, then nodded.
