I was on my way to my class when my head decided to turn around then I saw a new learner, I think he is new because I have never seen that face before even though I only saw half of it. I was just steady looking at him walking toward me hoping he could incline his face so that I could see his face clearly. He was wearing black and white all-star with our long dark grey school uniform pant with his white long sleeves shirt not being tucked inside with his both hands inside pant pockets.
He inclined his face when he was near my side and turned to look at me also with the smirk on his face, my heart nearly jumped out from my chest when I saw his whole face. He has a line scar crossing over his left eye and huge burnt scar on his right cheek. He passed me while I was still steady, he left me gulping so hard from seeing his face it was so scary. But I was just hoping that he won't be in our class, from that thought it made me so happy then I decided to turn myself to my class.
My seat it's at the left side corner at the back, I prefer sitting there than being on front or at the center. First class pass and I got so happy that it proved me right. He definitely won't be in our class. Maybe he's in the next class, he surely looks like he could skin a person alive. I don't want such people in my class or in my life, my words worked against me when I saw him walking in with Mr. William, our Sir Math Teacher. I heard my class gasping for air whilst my heart was pounding so hard that I even placed both of my hands on my chest trying to keep it calm.
Heat begins to overcome when he stares at me with a smile, his smile gives me cringe.
"Learners, we have a new student, and I would like you to give him a warm welcome, especially you George," Sir. William said, turning his head to face the new student next to him, "This is Sam White. I won't go into many details. He will tell you about himself when you're all alone."
Why especially me. I really didn't like Sir. William's words.
"George brings him a table and a seat to stay nearby you and please teach him how to dress well our school uniform, I trust you," Sir. William said, while motioning Sam to George.
I went out to the hall to look for his desk and chair, while I was at it, I hated how Sir. William chose me and why? Is it because I am a genius or it's because I am sitting alone but there are also two people at the back who seats alone. Why me! When I got back, I found him sitting on my chair and I lost it, but I calmed myself because he is new.
After placing down his chair and desk next to me, I told him that he could sit on his chair, and he didn't. He just slid his finger on the chair and showed me the dust on his chair. I had never made a loud sigh like that before, and he just gave me that smile I hate. I came back with a damp cloth to wipe off all the dust from his desk and chair and, finally, he removed himself from my chair.
"Should I tell him to wear his uniform properly!" I said to myself in a low tone. Looking at him, with an unbuttoned shirt on top and a dusty grey tie on, "I will leave him like this."
Those were my final words when I decided to listen to Sir. William teaching.
It was a ten-minute break after three periods we had, and I decided to go outside with my bottle to drink water. I stood up from my seat, when I was about to pass Sam. I felt him grasping my pant on my left leg side, then I heard him saying, "Please bring me orange juice," with a low tone. I don't know if he was faking the tone or the weak-faced expression he had on and I just walked out of the classroom without saying anything to him.
"He didn't even give me money to buy him orange juice. Who does he think he is? Minister's child?" I talked to myself while I was at the water tap drinking water from my bottle.
"The new learner, Sam! He's asleep and he's using your favorite pillow," One of my female students said when she saw me walking to my class, I became so furious in a second that I went inside my class rushing.
I banged his table loudly with his orange juice and took my pillow away from him and said, "This is my favorite, no one is allowed to touch it," then I put it inside my desk.
He drank all of the orange juice and he looked more alive after the last drop he took.
"Thank you," I said, while looking at George, who was also staring at me.
"No, problem," I answered Sam back, then I took out my books to study.
It's lunch time and everyone is in the cafeteria while I was sitting with my food inside my tray looking for George because he is so nice to me, I didn't think he would buy me orange juice, but he did. Then I saw him with his friends. I guessed they were and there was an empty seat next to him, so I moved myself to him. I was about to sit down, then he said, "Oh! This seat is taken so you can go there."
I heard him and his friends laughing so badly that it made my heart hurt a lot. I just stared at him, and he was avoiding my stare but busy laughing with his friends. I guess he is not nice as I thought.
"I heard that you are a new student here. Well, I am Pat, the captain of the chess club called Red ants," an unfamiliar face in front of me with a hand for me to shake. He has the same light brown skin tone as George. I liked his approach and his smile with dimples and I even gave him a smile also.
"I am Sam White," I said.
"You should join our chess club," Pat said while staring at my food. I know I always surprise people because I only eat vegetables and fruits mostly.
"Yes, I would love to join. I always wanted to be in a chess team," I said simply.
"Great, then I guess I would be hanging with you more," Pat said with a smile, and I was so happy with that.
