Locker room with her

1619 Words
Jason's POV I watch with a smirk on my face as the team members force Dave away from me. I decide against fighting back for two reasons. First, I want to get Camila's attention. She'll naturally feel sorry for me. She'll be inclined to take care of me because she'll think it's her fault that Dave unleashed his anger on me. She'll do her best to make me feel good. And that's what I'm counting on. Her time. Her attention. Second, to regain my team members' trust. Most of them are loyal to me, but some no longer interact with me after being bought off by Dave's rich papa. To sum it up, I want to play with everyone's emotions. By acting weak now, I'll be able to get under their skin easily. I was the captain of the team a year ago, but Dave was instantly made captain after I was forced out. I want my position back. I also want the woman he stole from me. I want my fans and the media back. And I promise to take it all. When Dave brings me to the ground, I hear Camila's desperate voice as she tries to stop him. But Dave, being hotheaded and stupid, ignores her and continues to choke me. Well, he's barely doing a good job because of how unstable he is. His hands are shaking. He is seething and trembling. "No! Stop it!!" Noah and another guy succeed in ripping him off me after many failed attempts. "No. Leave me! I'll kill that bastard first. I'll kill him before he—" "Like the way you killed Owen?" I interrupt as I rise to my feet. "What?" My words draw everyone's attention. As intended. I make my voice loud enough for everyone to hear me. "You'll kill me just the way you killed Owen, right?" I repeat as I face him. "What is he saying? Is he implying that Dave had a hand in Owen's death?" "I thought it was suicide," some of the team members murmur. Dave freezes for a minute, and when he regains control of himself, he approaches me. "What are you saying, fucker? Why are you pinning the death of your best friend on me? You were the one who couldn't save him before he took his own life," he snaps. I smirk. "Is that so? Are you sure you and your daddy had no hand in his death?" I accuse. He snarls. "His death was ruled a suicide. What game are you trying to play? Huh?" He bumps his chest against mine in a challenging manner. When he tries to do it a second time, I glare at him. "Come at me again if you want to be beaten to a pulp in front of your woman, who I, by the way, brought to practice with me," I whisper. He pauses when he hears this, and his eyes automatically fly to Camila. I follow his gaze and see her staring back at us with a troubled expression. Yes, she's the type who hates violence. I almost forgot that. The amount of violence Dave displayed must have really frustrated her. I have to end this here. I can't let her see more of this. So I take a step back, then I walk off the ice. Some of the team members call after me as I leave, but I don't respond and head to the locker room. I pace around the room for a while before retrieving my phone. I'm about to text Camila when she texts me first. "Are you okay? You look hurt. Where are you? I'll come to you." A smile touches my lips as I read the message. Cute. "Come to the locker room," I respond. "Okay, I'll be down there." I put my phone away and sit on a bench. She arrives seconds later. I see her face twist with pain when she notices the blood on my lips and my reddened neck. "Oh my gosh." She looks like she's about to cry as she stands before me. Her hands touch my neck as she examines me. "I'm so sorry," she whispers. "This happened because of me." I shake my head as I watch her. "Dave lost his temper. I knew this would happen. You don't have to blame yourself," I say. "No." She shakes her head. "Let's go to the hospital. You have a busted lip, and your neck looks swollen." She holds my hand and tries to lead me out of the locker room when I stop her. Then I pull her closer until she's between my legs, my head resting against her stomach. "No," I refuse. "What?" "I refuse to go to the hospital. It's not a big deal. And I'm used to getting punched. This will heal in a couple of days." "But..." She tries to argue, but I quickly shut her up when I place a hand around her waist. Not too tightly. I don't want to make her uncomfortable. "Can I rest on you? Please?" I plead. "What?" Her eyes brighten slightly. I don't repeat myself. I gently rest my head against her stomach, my arms wrapping around her waist, and we both go still. I can hear the beating of her heart as she tries her best to remain in this position. "How much longer are we going to stay like this?" She asks. She sounds uncomfortable. Sure. She's not used to this. I look up, and our eyes meet. "Being around you helps me regain my strength. You have this strange ability to make me feel better," I tell her truthfully. She blinks. "In that case, we can stay in this position." She gently separates herself from me and sits down on the bench beside me. My heart stings at the little distance she puts between us. It's all thanks to that fucker. She's being careful around me because he doesn't allow her to have relationships with other guys. I want to beat that little s**t to a pulp. I mean it. I dealt with him a few days ago, but it was only a few punches. I was too tired from fighting his father's men, so I left him with a few warnings. But right now, I feel a strong need to end his miserable life. I watch as she clenches her hands into tight fists to avoid touching me, then she smiles awkwardly. "I hope this helps. Really." "But I have a question." "What is it?" I ask. "It's about your relationship with Dave. There's more to it, isn't there?" She asks, and when I remain quiet, she continues. "I knew it. You're like two enemies. But you're on the same team. How can you dislike each other this much? What is your history?" Dislike? Hahaha, dislike is a nicer way to put what I feel for him. I absolutely loathe Dave. And I pray for his downfall every day. But I don't tell her this and remain silent. "There's no history," I murmur. "You're lying," she blurts out. I chuckle. A text comes in on my phone, and I open it. It's from Noah. 'The coach is back. He wants you back on the ice.' "What does it say?" Camila asks. I put my phone away and rise to my feet. "The coach wants me back." "Let's go." "Oh, great news! I'm glad he didn't cancel practice. The coach is really strict." She follows me out of the locker room. While she heads to the spectator area, I go to the coach. He is scolding the team when I appear. His face twists with anger when he sees my injuries. "Will you tell me what happened to you, or will you sit on the bench?" He asks. I choose the second option. I walk away from the ice. I'm not in the mood to drag things out right now, and like he said earlier, the new season hasn't begun yet. I still have time to prepare. I'll watch them from here. I don't want to play alongside that fucker either. He is glaring at me, but I don't look at him. I turn my attention to Camila, but when I see her staring at Dave, I feel my heart tug painfully again. The scrimmage resumes. Camila doesn't take her eyes off Dave as he plays. I notice the way she smiles when he wins. And this only angers me further, so I do the one thing I know how to do best. I disappear from the scene. I retrieve my phone and go to my contact list. I see Ivy's name written boldly there, and I smile before calling her. "Hello, babe," she replies, her voice full of excitement. "Can you make it to practice? I need you to distract Dave," I say. The excitement in her voice dies down. "Again? And what do I get from this? Huh? Why do you keep making me seduce him when you know the person I have feelings for?" "Just do it," I say, my voice turning hard. She releases a huff. "Okay, I'll be there in twenty." "Make it ten." She huffs and ends the call. I put my phone down and release a sigh. I'm sure this will hurt her. But as long as it'll help bring Camila back to her senses, then it'll be fine. She needs to see Dave for who he truly is. He doesn't love her, and he never truly will. He's with her because he knows I've loved her for a long time. He's doing all of this just to f**k with me. But I'll make him regret it.
