Camila's POV
A loud knock on the door forces me out of sleep. I sit up, grab my phone, and stare at the time.
It's past midnight. Who is knocking on my door at such an unholy hour? I wonder as I move to the living room. The knocking hasn't stopped. Someone is literally banging on my door.
Who the f**k is it?
I turn the living room light on and move closer to the door.
"Who is it?" I ask once I'm close.
No response.
"Who is at the door? I can't open it until I know I'm safe. And if you knock again without stating your name, then I'll call the police," I say. I'm a girl who lives alone in this old house. I need to be cautious.
"It's me." A voice finally speaks. "Dave." His voice sounds broken.
"Who?" I ask again.
"It's Dave. Open the door," he says, knocking again.
Why does he sound like that? I peep through the peephole but can't see his face clearly because it's dark.
"Can you call my phone if you're really the one?"
He groans but does as I say.
I unlock the door after I confirm it's him, and he literally barges into my house.
I lock the door and approach him.
He is sitting on my sofa, looking... hurt. His lips are busted, and his face is a mess.
I cup his cheeks and stare at his face.
I'm about to ask questions when I suddenly remember Jason's words.
I slowly let go of him and take a step back. "You need to go. It's late." My voice sounds cold as I speak to him.
Surprised by my tone, he stares at me. "Can't you see I'm hurt?"
"I don't care. Go to the hospital if you need medication. This isn't a hospital," I state.
He huffs. "Don't you want to know how I got hurt? Are you the Camila I know, or is this some other person? And why didn't you show up at my house today? You were supposed to visit at 9:00 p.m. We had an agreement, but you ignored my calls and texts. What is wrong with you?"
I walk to the door, unlock it, and hold it open. "Please leave. Go to the hospital. I'm not in the mood for this." I don't look at his face as I speak. I can't. I know I'm being harsh to him, but if this helps our relationship, then I'm willing to push harder.
I need him to fall in love with me. I need him to be crazy about me. I can't be the only one loving and being crazy about him. I can't be the only one obsessing over him. Jason was right after all. I refused to acknowledge his coldness toward me in the past, but I can't do that anymore. I honestly can't continue this way.
He needs to love me. I need to be loved. I don't want to be just a s*x partner to him. I don't want to be looked down on anymore.
He stands up and walks toward me. Then he shuts the door.
"Why are you acting up? Did that bastard put you up to this? Did he say something to you? Tell me, what did he say to you?" He tries to hold my face, but I slap his hand away. He doesn't stop, though, and cups my face, forcing me to look at him.
The tears I've been struggling to control spill down my cheeks as I stare at him. "I don't know what you're talking about," I lie.
"Oh yes, you do. Yes, you do. He put you up to this, didn't he? I should have known." He releases my face and runs a hand through his hair. That f*****g bastard came to take what is mine.
"I won't allow it. I won't allow him. I'll destroy him before he can act," he growls.
I scoff and open the door again.
"No." He closes the door. "I'm spending the night here. I don't want my dad to see me this way," he says and starts walking toward my bedroom. I run after him.
"What? You didn't tell me your dad was at your place."
"He is. He came three nights ago."
"And you didn't think to tell me?" I huff. Does he actually regard me?
"Why are you nagging me?" He suddenly stops and snaps. I freeze.
He pushes me out of the way and enters my bedroom. He takes his shoes off and throws himself onto my bed.
This wouldn't be his first time spending the night at my place. In fact, I used to enjoy having him around, but not tonight. Not after what I discovered about him.
To him, I'm just a s*x toy. I refuse to be someone he can toy with anymore. I want to be loved and treated like a real woman. I don't want to feel lesser anytime I see his female friends, and I certainly don't want to watch him kiss and have a mini make-out session with his friends in front of me.
I approach him and rip the duvet off him. "Leave, Dave. Go to one of your friends' places. Tonight is not the right day to do this. Please. Please, I beg you."
"Stop throwing tantrums, and let's go to bed. I promise to eat your cat when I'm in a better mood. You love that, don't you? You love it when I eat you out like a meal." He brings his hand to my womanhood and cups it.
I close my eyes and take deep breaths. I almost—almost—fall for his tricks, but then I pull away from him.
"I'll sleep in the living room, then. You can have the bed to yourself tonight. Make sure to lock the door after I leave. Goodnight." I groan and immediately shut the bedroom door.
I hear him grumbling some words after I leave, but I don't wait to listen. I go to the long sofa and collapse onto it. My father enjoyed sleeping here when we lived together.
I've also had s*x on this sofa multiple times. Dave loves f*****g me right here.
I sniff the sofa, hoping to catch the smell of his c*m, but all I get is the old smell of the sofa.
I fall asleep shortly after, only to be awakened by...
Someone is between my legs, eating me out.
I'm so f*****g wet. I'm literally dripping.
Is that... Dave?
I sit up at once, my heart racing when I see it's him.
He smirks at me. "What? Did I wake the sleeping princess? I was just about to make you cum."
"You... You shouldn't have..." My voice trembles because of the intense feeling rising between my legs. Oh my gosh, I'm so horny right now.
This bastard got me so wet.
"Oh, don't be a p***y. I know you want this. This is me making it up to you. I guess you're mad about yesterday, aren't you?" He tries to get between my legs again, but I close them.
I don't fail to notice my body's response despite how I pushed him away.
Fuck.
"Yesterday, I came in very late, and I also stole your beauty sleep. I acknowledge my fault."
I scoff. Does he think this is about the bed? He doesn't even know what he did wrong.
He embarrassed me when he chose Ivy over me. He also tried to make out with Ivy in front of me. He never apologized. It's not his first time being so close to other females, but I never really cared because those females were mere fans.
Not Ivy. Ivy is more. Ivy is gorgeous, and she's also a model. She's not that popular, but she has a lot of followers on i********:. And he seems attracted to her.
He releases a sigh and rises to his feet. "All right, this is it. I'm done. I'm tired of trying to play a hero. I'm not one, nor am I Prince Charming. I..."
"Why are you with me?" I ask, cutting him off.
His face twists. "What?"
"Why are you with me? Why are you in a relationship with me? I want to know," I inquire.
I watch as his brows rise higher as he stares at me.
"Can't even think of a good reason?" I scoff, baffled.
"Where is this coming from?"
"Nothing. It's nothing. I'm..." I stand up. "See you later, Dave. I need to prepare for the bookshop."
I'm about to walk away when he grabs my wrist and pulls me closer to him.
"That's right. I don't know the reason I'm with you. And I don't care much about it. But the truth remains that I could be with someone else, but I'm not. I'm with you. Right here. Right now. That should mean something, shouldn't it?"
I pull away from him. Tears sting my eyes, but I hold back from crying. I've been crying a lot lately, and it's thanks to Dave.
"You should go. I'm not in the mood," I say as I leave him.
"I don't know why you're being such a p***y, but I don't want to see you around that bastard. Do you hear me?" He yells as I disappear.
But I don't respond to him. Once I'm completely out of his presence, I break down.
It hurts when the person you're so crazy about doesn't feel anything for you.
I love him so much. It really hurts...
