CHAPTER 6 GABRIELLA The dining table was awkward. Adam Wagner's gaze on me made me shift uncomfortably in my seat. His blue eyes were penetrating and sharp like he knew what I was thinking about I haven't said a word to him since we met him this morning, working out in his gym but Ria was a non-stop talker, most of her talking directed to Adam, who gave her vague and cryptic replies. She had finally believed he was real after she saw him working out in his gym, his muscles flexing as he flashed a small smile. He was a lot younger than I expected and more breathtakingly beautiful. Now that he was closer, I noticed his long eyelashes and the tattoo, running down from his neck into his suit. ๐˜“๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜’๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ played on the inbuilt speakers of the room. ''I love this song'' Ria cheered '' Don't you, Ella''I nodded, shoving more pancakes into my mouth, to avoid getting asked any more questions ''What about you, Mr Wagner'' She questioned. ''Please, call me Adam'' He replied but his gaze lingered on me. ''Yes, Adam''She added, a smile on her face ''The other one doesn't talk'' he questioned, nodding his chin at me. My chewing stopped, and I raised my gaze from the table, struggling to swallow. Ria looked at me ''She does, just not enough'' she laughed jokingly. I looked at him, our eyes locked, I stared back at him, trying not to be intimidated. ''That's a shame'' He replied, looking away and picking up his cutlery. The breakfast was short-lived which was a good thing. Ria asked for a tour of the house for 'enligthment purposes' of his lifestyle check. The house was very beautiful, after walking around for a few minutes, it wasn't hard to tell Adam's favorite color was black. The house interior uniquely expressed him, his obsession with mystical creatures, especially wolves. The wolf statue, the paintings, the candles, it was weird. I hated them, no despise was a better way to describe it. I knew they existed,๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ. I felt a strange magnetic pull to them- probably because I had seen one right before my parent's disappearance. ''What about you, Ella?''Ria asked, but I had zoned out. ''Huh?'' She frowned ''I said what color do you like?'' She bit out ''Red'' Adam turned his attention to me ''Scarlet red'' I added. ''Like blood?''Adam questioned, tilting his head at me like I was an interesting experiment ''Yes" I breathed out ''Interesting'' Ria replied eyeing me down. ''So what does this painting mean'' she questioned, moving forward to the white wolf painting. The wolf looked to be running through the forest. He ran his finger through his hair''It's ancient history'' his voice, hoarse as he traced the outline of the painting, looking at it meaningfully."It takes more than one explanation to understand'' Ria batted her eyelashes, her doe eyes forming, slowly bringing out her innocent girl act. She looked at him like a clueless puppy. ''Oh, well I have time''She grinned, her dimples sinking in.''I don't. See you later, ladies'' He turned, walking towards the oak doors, where men in black stood, a car door already open. ''But, shouldn't we also come along'' Ria urged, grabbing her purse from the sofa. ''I prefer to keep my work life a secret''He answered, flashing a grin as he headed towards the car. My heart thumped, heat spread to my face, and my body felt lighted up by the strong pull that I felt to Adam f*****g Wagner.
