CHAPTER 2
5 YEARS LATER....
GABRIELLA
I love my job. Mainly because I loved writing more than talking, but also because it made my obsession with hate less crazy. My hate for mystical creatures or anything that wasn't a human grew over the years and I knew they existed, somewhere among us.
It was less crazy when a journalist talked about something absurd rather than a normal person. However, before I could ever share my hate on one f*****g newspaper, the earth would rotate twice and do a split.
My company was at the bottom of the food chain, well that's what you can get into when you have little requirements and have been in an orphanage home for most of the years of your life.
The office was quiet, only the sound of people typing on the keyboard echoed through the office. The door slammed shut causing Ria-my partner to jolt awake.
''Listen up everybody, I've got good news''James, the supervisor, a tall brunette man announced. Excitement, without doubt in his tone. ''Finally'' someone in the crowd said.
It was relatable, this place was dull, and it was pretty run down too. The red brick building was probably a disfigurement to the neighborhood, the air conditioning was old, and the ceilings had leakages. This place rarely got good ground-breaking offers.
''We're doing a lifestyle check'' everyone murmured. I smiled, it's been a while since our last lifestyle check. Lifestyle checks are living updates on celebrities, businesses, just basically anyone who would pay more money for popularity or good public image. ''On who?'' Ria asked, her smile bright as she prepared her phone to search for the person.
People who mostly did lifestyle checks were people who weren't popular or needed a good public image. ''Adam Wagner''James smiled proudly.
Ria's mouth dropped open, everyone's mouths actually. Adam Wagner-revolutionary* businessman, owner, and founder of Wagner Industries. Everyone knew Adam Wagner, why would someone like him need a lifestyle check?
''Adam Wagner, you've got to be kidding me''. He definitely* had to be kidding us, cause why would Adam fricking Wagner want us-a bottom of the food chain company, to do his lifestyle check.
Anyone who didn't know Adam Wagner probably didn't have a phone or never bought a designer''Yeah, his company called and offered us the deal'' there were definitely big imaginary dollar signs on James's head. Everyone was excited, excited more than everyone was Ria.
She sat on her chair and crossed her long legs, her signature dimpled smile plastered on her face like a mask that never came off. Her blonde hair, blue eyes, and soft feminine* features made everyone disregard the fact that she was a pick me.
''So, who's going for the job''Ria smiled at James, her dimples sinking in. He cleared his throat and sat down on the chair next to him ''It was a hard decision to make''-𝘓𝘪𝘢𝘳. ''We are all good at what we do, and this choosing doesn't define anything or make anyone less great or better at their job'' he cleared his throat again.
''Ria and Ella are on this project, Ella because of her excellent writing skills and Ria because of her analytic mind'' Ria squeaked, she grabbed my hands and twirled me around. We both know why our group got the project, it wasn't a big secret who the w***e was.
''Now, this is serious work guys, Adam Wagner isn't just anyone, this could be our breakthrough. A new beginning for this company'' Finally. A boost for the company was a boost for me, a boost for me to finally let the whole know we have other things living amongst us and not every kill was a human kill.''So, when do we start" RIa asked, probably booking her hair appointment for a closer date. ''Tomorrow'' He replied.
Ria gasped, a frown finding its way to her face before quickly turning into a smile "Tomorrow is too close to start" she complained. James stood up from his chair heading towards the door.
''That's what they requested and we are not going to argue with that because of your inability to fit all your clothes into one suitcase'' She huffed ''But James, I mean Mr Winter...'' she trailed off, following him, probably to follow to offer him anything between her legs before she went away for a month.
I pushed my chair back, taking my seat.''Excited huh?''Tyler whispered. I looked to my shoulder meeting his gaze. I nodded, it had been five years since the orphanage 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. ''I'm going to miss you'' he confessed taking my palms in his hands. I smiled, gently releasing myself from his hold.
He sighed, turning his attention back to his computer. Tyler likes me but I had someone in my mind, I just didn't know who he was yet.
