For the following hour, Noah had Thomas and Wynn called to his office. Apparently some maid had tipped him that they had a mini argument in the middle of the barn’s construction.
Thomas calmly explained to Noah what he did to the construction workers—Wynn didn’t deny the accusation.
Noah kept silent the entire time when they reiterated what had happened while he was away—that is, when he spent his time inside the Magic Ball and taking care of the animals that had developed immense skills for cooperating with humans.
On top of that, Pizza—the monkey he allegedly was supposed to give to Joanna as a gift, got along well with Snowflake and Cole.
Mik and Ginger didn’t mind the presence of the little monkey. Bean’s curious at looking at him, but Snowflake and Cole were the ones that played with him the most.
“I see,” Noah replied as Pizza sat on his shoulder like a baby. The little guy had been seating on his shoulder for days. And if Noah attempted to leave him on his house, Pizza would secretly ride at his car’s back seat, and he’d end up climbing Noah’s shoulders once the ride is done.
“So, did you made up?” he asked incredulously. “I need immediate answers.” He closed the record book he’d kept just in case the records in his desktop can’t be accessed anymore. Noah thinks that it’s better to have more back-up plan than lose all his proof of record.
Thomas coughed for a bit, “I admitted my mistake, and I apologized with the guys earlier—” he stopped and looked at Wynn who had a big smile on his face.
“Oh, he did,” Wynn smiled at Noah, “he apoligized personally. Older man even ate food with them.”
Noah nodded his head, a smile playing on his lips. “Are you sure?” he leveled a stare at Thomas. He was indeed sure—he’d just want to tease the older man who looked embarassed in front of him.
“Didn’t get a good night’s sleep?” Noah asked.
“I did—it’s just that I was pressured with the growth of the Stream Ranch.”
Noah understood. From supplying local markets, Noah had reached at supplying top-quality meat with certain restaurant in New York city. Also, with the help of the auction charity event that he attended, he was able to make deals with certain high-end business that owned restaurants to purchase his livestock and poultry. For the past few months, Noah can say he’d succeeded in doing so.
With a crackling laugh, Noah tilted his head on the ceiling as Thomas quirked his upturned mouth. Wynn beamed like the light.
Noah woke-up feeling energized despite the pouring rain outside of his window.
He heard faint footsteps in front of his room in the farmhouse. He wondered what was happening this early in the morning.
Stretching his hands up in the air as if he was trying to reach the ceiling, Noah let out a stifled yawn, his palm covering the entirety of his mouth.
Joanna had said her good night at ten in the evening, and she seemed unbothered by the stories that Noah tells her about his daily life in the ranch.
Noah let her be. He didn’t try and pursue her when she seemed as if she was not in the mood to talk to him.
It’s been like this for the past few days between the two of them. For their first month of being together, Joanna seemed all excited and into him, especially when they had a conversations before the both of them retire for bed.
Now, Noah wondered what had happened with her disinterest in him.
He thought it must have started when dear old Noah attempted to gift her with monkey instead of jewels and shoes.
Noah’s last relationship he had been with was when he was still in high school. Victoria wasn’t one that asked for gifts at that time. Maybe it’s because she understood that both of them didn’t have the ample money to waste for such leisures. And on top that, they’re both students that ask for their parent’s money. Unlike now, you can buy whatever your eyes would fancy as long as it’s from your own pocket.
Pulling his blanket close, Noah decided to sleep some more. It’s still seven in the morning, and when he had the time, he’d secretly transport himself inside the Magic Ball to check on the animals that he’d been growing in their.
Pizza slept on the small bed side table, the cloth Noah made him covered his entire body, and he seemed cozy beneath.
For another hour, Noah stayed in bed. And then once more, Noah heard footsteps and muffled voices outside his door. More footsteps came from the following hour or so. And then when he couldn’t take the noises anymore, Noah walked to the door and pried it open.
“What the hell is happening?”
A frantic Wynn turn around and faced him, “Oh. Did we wake you up?”
Noah squinted his eyes at him. He didn’t say anything as he was still sleepy from all the noise that had been going on.
“It’s just that we’re preparing for impending storm.”
Noah made an “O” with his mouth. “So that’s why it seemed like you’re all in a rush.”
Wynn nodded vigorously. “There’d been leakages on some barn’s roofs. To add up with the trouble, it’d be hard to grow good grass with the rain pouring down on them for several days.
“Is it just the storm?” said Noah as he ran his fingers on his hair.
Wynn wagged his eyebrows, “Well, it’s technically the rainy season after this storm so—”
“Man, we’re going to need to fix alot of things. We need to arrange the food for our animals.”
“Yeah. Grass sprouts will come. Although there’d be more water than fiber in the grass. Animals would have a hard time digesting them.”
“That means we need to cut as much grass as possible and have them dried so that we the animals would have enough food for the rainy season.”
Wynn nodded, “That’s the plan. Nancy had been taking care of harvesting grass on the east wing while I’m trying to calm Pops as he scrambles on our storage room, finding for tools he can use in manually harvesting some grasses on the west wing of the ranch.”
“That’s good,” Noah hurriedly went inside his room. He shouted, “I’ll be out in a minute!” before Wynn rounded down the stairs, his silhouette fading in the corner.
Pizza quickly awoke from the banging that Noah accidentally did to his wooden door.
“Sorry little guy!” Noah called as he caressed Pizza’s face. “Are you alright?”
Pizza nodded faintly as Noah glimpsed at his yawning face.
Then, after thirty minutes, Noah managed to strode down the fields and join in on his other employees harvesting the grass he had taken from the Magic Ball.
He had his black boots on, and Pizza firmly staying on his shoulders.
“Don’t you want to go and play with the horses?” Noah asked him as Cole hugged his feet, the dog attempting to grab at Pizza’s tail.
Pizza stared at him with his big, googly eyes.
Sweat lined their foreheads, but Noah and his employees completed the preparation for the rainy season. He’d almost forget about it, actually. If it weren’t for Wynn and Thomas making noises in front of his room, he wouldn’t be able to know what to prepare this early in the morning.
After gathering the healthy grasses they’ve managed to acquire on his Stream Ranch fields, Noah had the animals kept in a big, dry barn. He had the chickens and roosters inside the new barn he had made. The sheep were in the barn on the west wing, while the horses and dogs stayed in their stables.
“What if we also put them in the bar that has built-in cubicles?” Nancy asked as she groomed Bean’s mane.
“I think so, too.” He couldn’t agree more.
“It would be a hassle though to take the horses one by one. Noah’s confident that the animals raised inside the Magic Ball would be able to listen to him, so he flashed Nancy a grin and asked her if she could wait near the barn.
After a minute, Nancy had her mouth slighty open—Noah had animals behind his back, as if he was that Noah in the bible wherein all the animals had been placed in his arc. Although this time, the animals followed Noah’s behind in a straight line. Pizza was on his shoulder, while Bean led the way inside the barn.
After placing the animals securely in the barn, Noah had readied the spray he had ordered, prioritizing the cows so that other animals would be protected from deadly ticks.
Also, Noah had hastily consulted the veterinarian to come over and check the health of the animals. He’d probably have them checked every week since they’re more prone to getting sick in the rainy season.
With the cleaners around his Stream Ranch, Noah instructed them to thoroughly clean every inch there is in the ranch. He specifically ordered them to scrub hidden places wherein molds would grow since molds can be a cause that animals caught cancer cells in their bodies.
Noah thinks he’d be lucky enough if the rain isn’t as pouring as he remembered it the last time he’d experienced it.
