I walked Takis into the woods, beyond the gazebo. We stomped through the clustered trees, moss-covered stumps, and around boulders. The trek felt like a thousand miles as my heart pounced chaotically within my chest. Standing outside the cabin, I pointed to its dilapidated roof, and said, “Matty’s in the loft. Be careful when you walk up the stairs. They’re dangerous.”
