Deja Vu

Chapter Four

He entered his office after his assistant told him he had an appointment that will be on in the next five minutes.

He sat down preparing for the person that is coming to see him. After taking off his coat and suit that have been hiding his bulging chest and biceps. He adjusted his tie and set out to do some works.

He was getting deep into his works when he heard a knock on his door, he just replied come in without looking up to see who came in. After appending his signature on the document he was holding he looked up to see the lady still standing.

"Zara!, pardon my manners, I felt like I asked you to sit, am very sorry" he said embarrassed.

"Not to worry sir, am okay I totally understand." She replied though shocked that the guy she had just spoken with some moments ago was the C.E.O she was meant to meet.

"I can see that look on your face, like you doubt if am actually the C.E.O. Well am Terry George." He said

"I know the C.E.O as Mr. George not your first name, pardon my negligence when we met in the elevator." She said hoping he will not take offenses at her for speaking casually with him.

"Never mind, I just showed concern, and you even replied thankfully and politely so it's okay. So to cut the story short, how can I help you." He said hoping to calm her fears.

"Siirr... I actually came from Thompson Realty Services to humbly request for a merger with your great company. As our company will love to partner with your honourable company for the best outcome in work output and profit maximization. We hope for this partnership for the purpose of the growth of the two companies." She finally concluded.

While she was talking, Terry leant back on his chair with his hand rubbing on his well trimmed stubbles to show his thoughtfulness and interest on the issue presented to him.

Seeing how he was listening she decided to drop some documents with him that will show the validity of the company. This led to some intense deliberations that arouse his interest and influence his profit seeking mindset.

"So, we will get back to you after a board meeting as only the decision of the board can determine where we stand." He finally replied after perusing the document placed before him.

"I understand sir, we will be waiting to hear positive response from you soon sir." She replied with a gentle smile.

After concluding the meeting she asked to be excused as left his office with a faint hope of a positive response.

She thanked the assistant and they bade each other goodbyes before leaving the office.

After some moments he called his assistant into his office and gave her the assignment to find out more about Thompson Realty Services since he will never jump to conclusion and raise such business proposal in the board meeting without first getting his facts and figures straight.

He kept working till late in the evening, his assistant who wants to go home finally summon up courage to face him and tell him that it's getting late.

"Sir, it's getting late sir, are you not going home tonight." She said with tiredness evident in her voice.

"Oh Tracy, what's the time now?" He asked

"It's almost 9pm sir." She replied.

"Wow, I felt the time is around 4 or so, let me pack up my things then we leave." He said.

"Ok sir." Tracy replied elated that he responded immediately to leave as he sometimes will ask that he finish up what he is doing and she can leave when she is through also. She would have decided to leave too but the few times she did that kind of increased her workload the next day as he might have assigned excess duties to her before the next day therefore, she prefer to close when her zealous boss closes.

Terry's drive home seem to be depressing as he have always tried to cover up his home issues with work.

Upon getting home, he saw his wife in the living room seeing a movie, he greeted but she replied more like a whisper. Not wanting to cause any issue with her, he just climbed up the stairs dragging his feet tiredly into his room to freshen up then came back to the dinning to take his evening meal since he had almost eaten nothing save the little tea, bacon, egg and toasted bread he ate in the morning before leaving.

He picked up his phone to check for any updates and replied few emails before going to bed.

Upon entering his bedroom, he looked at his wife lying down on her side of the bed and facing the other side. He just lie down facing the other side till he fell asleep.
