Lily The morning sun filtered through our bedroom curtains, casting golden streaks across Ace's sleeping face. For a moment, I just watched him. The tension lines that had been carved into his features for weeks were finally softening. He looked peaceful. Almost boyish. "You're staring," he mumbled without opening his eyes. "Maybe." A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "See something you like?" "Always." He reached for me, pulling me closer against his warm chest. I could have stayed there forever, wrapped in this perfect bubble of contentment. But reality had other plans. A sharp knock interrupted our moment. "Alpha?" Marcus's voice carried through the door. "The council is requesting your presence." Ace groaned. "What time is it?" "Eight thirty." "Give us ten minutes."
