“You sure everything’s all sorted, man?” Andy asked.
I dragged a hand through my hair and sat up from where I’d been sprawled on his couch. I stared at him.
“Hey. Sure we can’t have it at your place instead?” I asked.
He glanced back at me over his shoulder, eyes narrowing. “No? What? We can’t use your place no more?”
I swung my legs off the couch. “My door is always open. I’m just wondering if I could skip this time. You know…” I raised a brow, hoping he’d understand.
He didn’t. “Then what is it?”
I exhaled. “Dude, she’s staying with me, and all those people…” I trailed off, pinching the bridge of my nose.
Andy huffed. “This won’t be a problem if she locks herself up in her room.”
I shot him a dry look. His brows climbed.
“Wait. Is there another reason maybe?” he muttered.
A muscle tightened in my jaw.
“If there’s something she loves most, it’s making sure she never listens to me. I know her, bro — she’s not gonna lock herself up.”
He chuckled, giving me a ridiculous look. “What then? She’s of age. She can always join us. Or what, you’re gonna babysit her?”
“She cannot join us,” I bit out. He tilted his head.
“Then you lock yourself up with her,” he said, lips tugging up. “To make sure she ain’t coming out. And maybe keep her busy with something.”
I knew a suggestive statement when I heard one. And that was the quickest way to piss me off, especially if it involved a certain blue-eyed blonde.
“Don’t say s**t,” I muttered, leaning forward with my arms draped loosely between my knees.
Andy chuckled again.
“Come on. I haven’t even seen her yet, but I already know she’s one pretty b***h if you’re getting overly protective.”
I ground my teeth. He never knew when to quit.
“Or maybe it’s resentment. It’s fine though — I can stay with her if you won’t,” he added, grinning.
I glared. “Don’t f*****g say s**t,” I snapped, my voice edging higher than usual.
He didn’t even flinch. His grin only widened as he walked to the refrigerator, popped it open, and grabbed another soda — because of course he was addicted to that crap.
He pointed the can at me before opening it. The hiss was loud.
“So you like her then?” he asked, settling on the opposite couch and taking a gulp straight from the can.
My nose scrunched, but I stayed silent. He didn’t deserve an answer — especially not to something that ridiculous.
I could not like Skylar. She was a kid. And yeah, I was only a year older, but I knew when to back off.
Not after what I’d overheard years ago.
No f*****g thank you.
“Is that a yes, Thompson?” Andy teased.
If looks could kill, he’d be dead.
“Drop it, dude. She’s like a sister to me.”
Definitely not how I’d treat a sister — but it was the closest label I could stomach.
Andy “oh-ed” and went quiet for a couple of minutes. Which should have warned me.
“So I can shoot my shot then?” he asked, smirking.
I frowned. “Of course not.” I leaned forward. “Play your cards elsewhere, bro.”
I meant every word. The last thing I wanted was my friend hooking up with someone I’d known since childhood — someone whose parents were close with mine — especially when that friend was a playboy.
He nodded and looked away, but I wasn’t convinced. Not even close.
When the time came, I wouldn’t mind breaking his nose if I caught him anywhere near her.
I didn’t like Skylar, not even a little — but she deserved someone decent. And there were plenty of decent guys in school.
“I invited the girls,” he said after a while.
My expression relaxed. “Jessica?”
He nodded, watching me carefully, probably searching for a reaction.
“You’ve f****d her, haven’t you?” he asked.
I shrugged. “She came to my house and demanded that I f**k her. I was only fulfilling a maiden’s wish.”
I still remembered Skylar walking in on us.
For a moment, it fueled the desire I’d had for Jessica.
Honestly, I wasn’t planning on doing anything. Maybe making out, then sending her home with those annoying sounds she made — but then Skylar walked in, and Jessica became a much-needed distraction.
She was a good play.
Andy’s expression twisted as he took another gulp of soda and swiped the back of his hand across his mouth.
“You good?” I asked.
He met my gaze head-on. “She’s my cousin.”
I blinked. That was… wow.
“You didn’t tell me,” I muttered.
“No? I was sure I did — except you were smitten by her boobs,” he said. Ah. The first night we met.
He shifted. “Anyway, she wants you to date her.”
I raised a brow. “You know I don’t date.”
“Nah, bro. You have to. You have to date Jessica. She said you took her virginity.”
I stared at him. The hell?
“I’m very sure she wasn’t a virgin. I slid into her—”
“Nope. Don’t wanna hear how easy you got into her,” he cut in. “She claims she’s a virgin. And no one in the family has seen her with a guy. Until you, apparently.”
I could swear on anything she wasn’t her own damn first. She rode my c**k like a pro — that was no virgin.
What the actual f**k was she on about?
“I’d like to hear her say it to my face,” I said coolly.
Andy nodded. “She’ll be there tonight.”
I sank deeper into the couch and watched him take another swig, an unreadable expression on his face.
I had a feeling he brought this up because of Skylar.
And I also knew it would end pretty bad.
